They save a significant amount of time. Amazon in the US expects its drivers to deliver ~25-30 packages/hour, I suspect the rate is lower for post. I’ve seen these things loaded up with 50 packages in 10 mins.

Parcel fees + saving money by not transporting packages around the country to only transport them back to the nearest post office because the recipient is at work?

Edit to add: Post has a collab with Amazon the pack-up station which probably retained some of the business which Post used to have (most Amazon deliveries are now handled by Amazon subcontractors)

The amount of parcels (so the revenue) is the same, but the efficiency of the distribution increases. At the end of the day, they save money by paying less people.

    4. You can just place parcels that couldnt be delivered at the end of the day in such a station and you can save on actual post shops. They probably also get payed a decent amount by Amazon to place their parcels inside them

They are convenient, so people will select Post over the less convenient carriers.

Some carriers pretend like you weren’t home, so now you need to go pick it up somewhere inconvenient, at an inconvenient time. Some leave packages at your door even when they ought not. Sometimes you are out of town and don’t know exactly when you’ll be back. These pickup stations solve those problems.
