Illegally occupying an island while making claims of ’no legitimacy‘. Man, why couldn’t we have a nice nation like Sweden as a neighbour.

Turkiye has been cosplaying as a bully for the past 26 years and nothing ever happens. Its all talks and tantrums.

    3. > Ankara called the pact contrary to the 1960 Cyprus treaties and international law.

It really clearly and unambiguously isn’t. There’s a developing trend of complaining about the stupidest shit and this is firmly in that category. Absolutely nothing in the 1960s treaties precludes a Status of Forces Agreement with other nations…and it’s a freaking SOFA for goodness sake; as defence agreements go it’s the mundanest of things.

I will never understand why some nations choose to complain about _everything_ – it’s like the gish gallop of international relations, but I don’t understand what they expect it to achieve.

    4. You should learn that these are not really aimed at Europe. They do this whenever nationalist voter base starts to get annoyed by whatever’s happening inside and rally them by creating a foreign threat.

Yawn Erdogan is even less scary than Putin. 🥱

Funny to think that this country is supposed to be our ally.

Turkey is a strong contender for the shittiest neighbor Olympics and I’m saying that as someone who’s country borders Russia.

    7. As per usual, Turkey lashes out and badmouths everybody not in agreement with its world views.

    8. The irony (or hypocrisy) here is that Turkey has 30,000 troops in Cyprus, with no legal base at all, a clear violation of the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee. Also the ongoing occupation is illegal by any treaty regarding Cyprus.

But to be clear: the Treaty Turkey is refering to, means permanent stationing, not temporary exercises or other sorts of defense cooperations. That’s nothing unusual for any country and perfectly legal under international law.

    9. How is that even a threat to turkey, it’s like Russia feeling threatened if the neighbours want some defense

kick turkey out of any eu military setup and sanction them economically…that will put them in their place.

    11. God Turkey is fucking annoying. Acting like they are still the Ottoman Empire but they don’t have their own country under control. Then all the nationalist Turkish bots swarm the chat proclaiming some bullshit nobody cares about. They aren’t going to do anything anyway, they can’t. Literally have zero cards.

    12. Turkey talking like they’re ready to go to war with everyone from Israel to France and the British. He’s so desperate to stay in power he’ll say anything.
