we already require teachers to be apolitical, a teacher with a party branded shirt going in schools would also be problematic so why should they bring religion where very influenceable kids (main target of religions) are?

Preaching or trying to spread religion in schools are wrong, but as someone who believes in secularism, I don’t think this is the way to go. Headscarf is no different than a hat or a bandana. It’s a clothing item, not something obstructing like a burqa.

Funny how headscarves are accepted when Muslim women clean toilets, work at the cashier or do low-paid jobs. But as soon as they are educated, become teachers and want to be part of public life, suddenly the headscarf is a threat.
That is not neutrality. That is only accepting minorities when they stay in the background.

I am hesitant honestly. From one side I am full atheist and I am happy to remove religious signs.
From other side, I feel measures like this press muslim woman to not have certain jobs and develop less their professional live.
A hiyab can be seen as a piece of clothing or as a religious sign. Wearing a cross would not be problematic to me either as long as the teacher is not a person that pushes religion into others.
Banning all signs of religion or political party is the only right thing to do. I had hard core Christians in my teacher university class that were planning to tell the kids in biology that noone actually knows how the world came to be and that it’s all just a theory like a fantasy story and ofc they would have just skipped over reproduction.
