It flies way too high. Ukraine has blamed that on lack of accurate terrain maps, and the unsuitability of the engine to operate at high speeds and low altitudes. They are supposedly building a factory for a new, optimized engine that is supposed to start production this fall.

Let us hope that they deliver, in quantity, because a missile that can deliver a 1000 kg warhead deep into Russia would be a game changer.

the key point is that Ukraine consistently gains new capabilities. If that keeps happening, the costs to Russia keep increasing and the chances Pootin has an accident, sudden illness or whatever increase (and the new guy blames everything on Pootin). Either that or new guy tries to hang on to things and Russia slowly becomes like N.Korea.

Question for aeronauts: if they strapped 2 engines to the Flamingo, I appreciate it would be heavier and burn more fuel, but how much faster would it go? – albeit for a shorter distance?
