When Trump got elected I was told by people that Congress wouldn’t pass mandatory age verification requirements at the national level.

Not just that but AI – GLOBAL – SURVEILLANCE systems, that will literally know everything you think, everything you do/buy, and will probably at some point try to predict if you are useful to the (current) system or not.
That’s all very vague. I would have liked to see them explain what’s actually bad about each of the measures they mention, rather than just saying thing like „they chill free expression.“ Like, how?
Take the NO FAKES Act, for example. I’d have appreciated an explanation for why restricting the use of AI to duplicate people and voices without consent is a bad thing. It may be that it’s a horrible law, but that page doesn’t really do much to explain why.

Honestly we do need laws regulating the use of AI to create deep fakes to deceive or maliciously manipulate people. (Maybe like requiring watermarks or messages saying it’s AI). But where this runs into problems is with comedy and satire, which are protected speech and has been repeatedly upheld by the courts. And even if the no fakes act goes through I do not expect it to be applied fairly at all. This administration will use it as a weapon to go after dissidents.
These senile dipshits won’t regulate AI as it destroys the environment, sends utility bills skyrocketing during an energy crisis, and threatens everything from job security to personal security but *they* *will* keep you from anonymously jerking off to real people by every means necessary.
