      Andre Douglas, mission specialist

      Frank Rubio, mission specialist

      Luca Parmitano, pilot

      Randy Bresnik, commander

      Jonny Kim is going to be adding walking on the moon to his resume it seems. Someone at NASA is cultured in internet lore. Hopefully they ensure a woman is able to walk on the moon too, which I’m sure is why there are no women on this mission.

      So it looks like everyone except Douglas has flown before. Neat.

      For the space nerds out there: 2/3rds of the crew of Apollo 9 were also experienced astronauts (McDivitt and Scott), with one rookie (Schweickart) as well.

      Almost half of the active astronaut corps is women, disappointing that none were chosen for this mission.

      I thought there would be a woman in this crew as well, I should really hope there is AT LEAST one for Artemis IV (if not more), and specifically to walk on the moon.

      I’m very excited for the first ESA astronaut on an Artemis mission! Though I thought there would have been an ESA backup as well.

      Edit: I’m also glad to see the NASA Artemis II backup as part of the core crew for this mission!

      after years of delays and budget arguments it all starts feeling abstract. but now there are actual names. actual people. i think about what it must feel like to be told you’re going to the moon and i genuinely can’t process it. like what do you even do with that information.

      How come not the same people from Artemis II? They’ve got experience with a similar mission now. Genuinely curious.
