Brad Pitt- The Devils Own, Julia Roberts- Michael Collins, The whole cast of Wild Mountan Thyme.

    2. Gerard Butler in P.S. I love You. It hurts my ears.

Also Angel from Buffy, or should I say Angelus 😬

    3. Supposedly Cruise did study the Irish accent with cousins, and met Cyril Cusack and Niall Tóibín and, according to the latter, had it down.

And then when it came to filming the producers told him to ham it up. It’s probably a myth, but I believe the story goes a producer, on hearing Cruise’s subtle brogue, said something like „Jesus Tom, what the hell is that – we said do an ‚Irish‘ accent!“

Also – Gerard Butler in P.S. I Love You.

I always thought the actress that played Grace on Peaky blinders was one of the worst I’ve heard

Any Irish accent in Sons of Anarchy. Every single one was a hate crime.

That bloke from Kerry who was playing an IRA man from the north in Sons of Anarchy . I was embarrassed for him. He actually made the show even shitter

Kevin Spacey and Linda Fiorentino, joint first in Ordinary Decent Criminal.

I will accept no other answer.

Sons of Anarchy hands down, I think there’s a special clip on youtube for it. It was so bad all you can do is laugh.

    10. Reading all these, it’s nice to see how old the examples are. These days they actually just hire Irish actors

    11. Either Brosnan in Mobland.

      Or Helen Mirren in Mobland.

      Both are fucking horrendous.

Brosnan’s probably moreso considering he’s actually fucking Irish.

    12. Gabrielle Anwar’s character in burn notice was supposed to be Irish and she tried to do an Irish accent in the plot. It was so bad they had her drop it. Jeffery Donovan’s attempt in later episodes wasn’t much better though.

Any Irish characters in Star Trek other than O’Brien.

Also every time Murder She Wrote done and „Ireland“ episode.

Sons of Anarchy also gets a mention. They „go“ to Ireland and no Irish actors used. (It was only a couple of air shots of locations actually done in Ireland)

Sean Connery in DarbyO Gill and the Little People

Robert Lindsay on Ordinary Decent Criminal

As bad as some films are, videogames are way, way, way, way worse.

The only good Irish accents I’ve heard in a videogame is Atlas in Bioshock and some of the Irish characters in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Bethesda games‘ Irish characters would make you want to go at your ears with a cheese grater.

The drunken ‘Irish’ (literally his name) from red dead redemption

I love Colm Meaney’s Star Trek accent. You can really hear the Stoneybatter trying to batter its way out.

I’m English so may be hearing it wrong – but every time Star Trek tried to do an Irish accent it always sounded unbelievably bad (and Scottish for that matter)

And it wasn’t like they didn’t have Colm Meaney on hand to put them right!

A double whammy of Tommy-Lee Jones and Lloyd Bridges in Blown Away. Both are sooooo bad!

Edit: Bonus would be the absolute state of Guinness they drink in that movie. Shocking!

Nothing can ever top Tommy Lee Jones in Blown Away as an IRA bomber just not enough people have seen it. It’s incredible

Emily Blunt in Wild Mountain Thyme… she turned into the Godfather for quite a few lines

HOW am I the first person to mention Matthew Goode in Leap Year?! It is an atrocity. It’s so bad it’s actually hard to understand what he’s saying a lot of the time. The film is garbage too, so of course I watch it drunk every St. Patrick’s Day ☘️
