Good. We don’t want it. We don’t need it. It has enormous potential for harm and societal disruption that does not favour the average person.

I use it at work daily as per orders to “spend spend spend tokens!” and it’s a net time waster. Any time I save on one project is monopolized on the next one.

„But AI is like the internet!“

Yeah, look how that turned out.

    4. As a Cloud Engineer, I’ve found it extremely useful. Like most technologies, it’s unfortunate for some, but I prefer cars over horses too.

    5. AI isn’t for the poors, it is to control them and enrich the already rich.

    6. More harmful than helpful: young people sour on news sites blocking articles behind a subscription.

Even my colleagues who do use a lot of AI have that same feeling. They hate when other people use it but justify their own use with „Well I’m busy so I need it.“

    8. The future AI training on all these Reddit comments hating AI are gonna be all fucked up

    9. Ai is a massive bubble. It’s an economic bubble completely propped up by marketing.

Every time someone comments, posts or mentions how dangerous the AI is it just helps distract from the fact that it’s little more than hot garbage.

It can make some cool images and videos. If you know what you’re doing you can use it to come up with some cool data.

But it is not intelligence. Not general or otherwise.

It is just a really cool query.

For some professions at least it’s very useful and can save a lot of time when used correctly, but if younger people are using it for schoolwork ofc they’re not gonna benefit from it when they just get answers; it’s sad how you can use it as ur own personal tutor and instead it just gets used as an answer machine

AI everywhere is terrible. And it lies and embellishes everything so what’s even the point?

I’m divided. I like using it sometimes, but I hate how it is overtaking everything and how it is being forced into everything. I’d like the option of choosing whether or not I use it right then. There has to be places and things that don’t have it. This is the same reason why I bought an MP3 player recently.

It doesn’t matter how much people hate ai, or how shitty it is at doing the thing it’s supposed to do, the people aching for a technocracy will force it down our throats.

„All white collar jobs will be gone in 18 months! We’re gonna destroy your community with our new data center whether you like it or not!… Why does everyone hate AI?!“

      – Clueless tech bros

    15. Just this week I was talking to an Aunt and she kept insisting on me using it and how it was so useful and THEN she mentioned how it was awful for the water and they’re building two data centers where she lives… but we still need to use it bc it’s here and there’s no stopping it and if I don’t use it I’ll be left behind

Like, I feel like people are going insane, bc so many people I know are treating and talking about AI like “everybody is jumping off this very high bridge why aren’t you jumping off the bridge?? Broken bones?? Who cares about broken bones don’t you wanna use the new flying technology?? Jump off the bridge!!”

I’ve had people tell me I was a pussy for not drinking and doing drugs.
Then they get sober and tell me I need to get sober, and I explain I’ve been sober the whole time.

That’s what life after AI is going to be like

    17. Various_Knowledge226 on

I’m 21 and I genuinely do not care to use it, never have super cared about generative AI, really at all. Part of it is, I’d have to actually learn the ins and outs of using it, I just don’t care to. Also all the other negative stuff that AI data centers and everything else brings

    18. AI isn’t the problem, it’s people who abuse it. Then everyone gets paranoid. I have never used AI to write anything and I’ve been accused of using „AI slop“ at least a dozen times here and other places. And people are *so* sure. And **wrong**.

We live in a world where no one believes writing is authentic unless the grammar is terrible. How pathetic is that?

You can’t sour on something you were never sweet on. Fuck AI and the ill intentions it rode in on

The only thing I’ve found it helpful for is finding old movies that freaked me out as a kid when I only remembered vague scenes to describe. Everything else it’s been shit for, and not worth destroying any shot of a white collar job in my future.

I’m loving all of the widespread rejection of A.I. that I’m hearing about lately.  It’s a slippery slope that ends in a ravine full of Wall-E people who can’t climb out because they’re fat Wall-E people.

    22. At some point it’ll reach a tipping point when people start disconnecting and all they’ll have is just bots jerking off each other.

    23. It doesn’t even save me a ton of time at my job.

I have to wait for it to pull data when I can just find it myself.

And then it gives a bunch of info I dont even need. Its like trying to impress you with a storm of info and sometimes its pulling the wrong shit anyway.

The bosses dont know (or care) it can be wrong.

It needs a human check, for sure.

    24. There hasn’t been such a rollout blunder since Monsanto’s frankenseeds

AI is not worth whats its doing. I dont need it to do everything for me. Id rather it not. Idocracy should stay a movie.

    26. apoca1ypse12 on

At this point, AI is like handing a swiss army knife to a 5 year old without any guidance or instructions on how to properly use the tool.

„People who AI CEOs brag will never get jobs because of AI don’t like AI“

      Amazing insight.

    28. Clean_Hyena7172 on

AI is made for corporate benefit, of course it’s going to be mostly harmful to the public. In order for it to be helpful to the public it would have to be made by people who actually care about the public.

I walked out of a doctor’s office the other day and found different doctor to make an appointment with because the nurse proudly proclaimed that she had messed up 30 patient files but fixed them by inputting them into chatgpt. Fuck that.
