Of all the huge American tech companies to throw our money at Palantir definitely seems like the worst possible choice.

Its funny there are tons of articles and videos on this AI stuff, nothing on the recession.

Bitching didn’t stop the horseless carriage and it won’t get rid of computers or smart phones. We will be overtaken by the people who use AI to function more efficiently. Our goal needs to be to use AI to efficiently create opportunities for our people.
>And what about the jobs? What are all those people who raise and care for horses going to do? What about the teamsters, streetcar operators, carriage manufacturers, groomers, coachmen, feed merchants, saddlers, stable keepers, wheelwrights, farriers, blacksmiths, buggy whip makers, veterinarians, horse breeders, street cleaners, and the farmers who grew grain and hay. The nation will be ruined if we abandon our horses. A horse can negotiate rough terrain. The horseless carriages demand smooth road surfaces with nary a bump. **The cost of creating these bumpless roads for horseless carriages will be overwhelming! Maintaining the many miles of roads we have now in America is a herculean task. How will we ever support more and smoother roads?**
Are Canadians even _paying_ for generative AI services at a meaningful scale (_e.g.:_ ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude)? It’s one thing for the market to be glazing OpenAI and Anthropic before they have an IPO. It’s another thing for mass exodus of dollars from Canada to America.
There’s little to no natural resources from Canada used to „power“ the AI industry in a consequential way. Given the importance of Canada’s oil & gas and mining sectors on our overall economy, I don’t think anyone should really be happy about our absence in the physical infrastructure of the AI industry.

This is pretty funny. We should also sell the airports and ports to US investors.

Don’t think I have ever found a need to use AI. All the people that push it are people making money off it. I can find a better use for our natural resources than churning out electricity and using our fresh water as coolant.
Everything AI I see has a disclaimer that it may contain errors. So what benefit is it besides creating memes.
