**Source:** https://bigmacindex.com/ Big Mac menu prices were collected from the leading food-delivery platform(s) in each country on 6 June 2026, using the menu/list price only — delivery fees, service charges, and tips excluded — then converted to USD using daily mid-market rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) as of 5 June 2026.

**Delivery apps used:** Uber Eats in most markets, plus Rappi (Argentina, Brazil), Talabat (Egypt, UAE), Yemeksepeti (Turkey), and GrabFood (Malaysia, Indonesia) — 36 countries total.

**Why delivery apps:** they give one consistent, auditable price source for the exact same item across 36 countries. Caveat: delivery-app menu prices usually run a bit higher than in-store counter prices, so read this as a like-for-like comparison of delivery menus — not in-store prices or The Economist’s Big Mac Index (which uses in-store prices for purchasing-power parity).

**Tools:** D3-geo choropleth rendered to PNG with resvg (custom tooling).

    2. To me, this is fascinating, I know for a fact that in Swizerland a Big Mac was over 14 USD, because I took a picture in absolute shock in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Either that price fell (unlikely), this chart is inaccurate (I wouldn’t know) or, possibly the most likely culprit – there is incredible variation in the cost of these types of fast food in specific spots where tourists may access them.

    3. How did you pick particular stores in each country? Not sure about outside of the US, but in the US there can be a wide variance in prices from one area to the next.

From the nearest McD to me right now, a Big Mac is $7.99

From the one nearest to my old apartment, $7.19

[edit] NM, read you comment. The decisions here were made by a third party.

Can we get a „big Mac price vs median wage“ index? Probably more useful.

Not real… Brasil 🇧🇷 Big Mac burguer USD 2,5. The meal we get at USD 4,5.

    6. China: 29 RMB which is 4.28 USD.

      Big Mac meal is 6.57.

Can usually get it cheaper with vouchers.

In France not only did the prices go up a lot, but it’s become more of a medium mac than a big one. With three fries dueling each other. Poor people don’t really go there any longer, they go to the exploding chicken fast foods instead. The food is even more shit than Mc Donald’s but it’s cheap and copious.

    8. The interesting things about BigMac’s in Germany is that you can get MUCH better hamburgers that are CHEAPER in Germany at most doner shops and sit down restaurants. Even the local pub makes their own burgers from local bread, beef from a local butcher and cheese from ireland and grill it themselves cheaper and those are MUCH better.

    9. At my nearest McDonald’s (in Norway) a BigMac is $12.68 through Foodora app (not including any extra fees like service or delivery).

    10. A lot of delivery apps raise the price of the food items themselves. So this isn’t really accurate of the price, more so of where the delivery companies make their money.

The Big Mac Index is a real thing, so unsure why this bastardized version?

    11. Why would you use delivery apps that charge extra and not the McDonalds app which is also in pretty much every country? A Big Mac in the UK is £5.49 which is $7.33.

I wonder if the east asian big macs are made with beef or a substitute

Other than that, if McDonalds corporate is subsidizing those as they build the market

    13. I don’t think the big Mac is a good index anymore. In Spain, real prices in fast food restaurants are lower, even excluding delivery fees. There are coupons and other offers that aren’t available at delivery. In addition, fast food prices have risen more than traditional restaurants. Ready to eat food in supermarkets is getting more common, as supermarkets are providing room to eat.

    14. Would be interesting to see how many McDonald’s per population too. Is it rare so expensive /cheap, or everywhere so cheap/supply and demand.

    15. There’s no way a normal Costa Rican could afford that price. What’s going on down there?

I remember in Zurich we couldn’t believe the prices of everything. We went to McDonald’s to get a cheap meal. Couldn’t believe I had to pay 20eur for that absolute slop.

I honestly don’t think big mac in indonesia gonna be same as europe. Probably different standards and laws according to food, so it can be better or worse.

The numbered ranking on “lowest Big Mac Prices” is wrong. It makes it look like there’s only at most 26 countries included in the data. But there’s countries on the map that are highlighted yet aren’t on either list. Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Poland, and New Zealand from what I can see off the top of my head.

Taking the price from delivery apps rather than the local McD website is beyond stupid.

Delivery app prices are often inflated before delivery fees.
