Astronomer here! I was quoted in this article regarding the new change in funding rules. TL;DR- they would allow grants to be canceled at any time for any reason by government officials with no science background, and hurt American science. Heck the international collaboration rules are so strict there’s concern wouldn’t be allowed any more.

I’m concerned that this administration is going to delay us scientifically for years and I don’t like the idea of other countries being ahead of us in anything.
We need rules that let us claw back the paychecks and office of overreaching rabid politicians !
This is another one of the Heritage Foundations schemes.
They don’t care who dies. They don’t care what is held up. They don’t care about this nation.
They only care about their own power. They are trying to destroy this nation from the inside, they need to be crushed and their leaders imprisoned or neutralized.
They have done the damage the Soviets or Japanese could only dream of. They need to pay. Bankrupt Russel Vought and all his pals, seize their assets and demolish their properties. Let them see what justice looks like in the nation they want to create.
