    1. Aw, man. That is terrible news, was hoping for a better outcome to this story.

    2. How… Kyoto is crowded enough to where I don’t think a young man could get lost enough to die from environmental conditions.

It’s also fair weather now and not even very cold at night.

It’s not a stretch to think he unalived himself but as for why and what triggered him to choose to do on while on a family vacation you have to think it’s some kind of family trauma.

Atleast we got a closure, RIP. Was following this news from the first post, really sad but atleast found.

I hope all of the people who harassed the women posting about this, accusing them of lying for money or attention, are feeling awfully guilty right now for making a difficult time exponentially worse. Regardless of CoD this is sad and I’d hope people would at least respond to this post with a basic level of human decency.

Damn that’s tragic. Was here since the first post and always hoped for a happy ending 😭

Is this actually true? The website link is absolute cancer filled with dating site ads, and news about him missing is front page news on Yahoo Japan with not a mention of his death.

There’s still a chance he might be found alive.

I also don’t think he would kill himself over a fight about AI.

    8. We can still save the bees though. That’s what this guy reminded us with his T-Shirt, and also what indicates this was a good guy, and makes it extra sad.

Don’t travel abroad and commit suicide. In Japan the family of people who commit suicide is usually held financially responsible for the costs of search and rescue, interruption of business activities, etc. They call it the double tragedy for the families. His parents could be on the hook for a large search and rescue bill. The Japanese are polite but surprisingly unsympathetic.

Don’t know story, but there are bears in Japan especially on trails.

This is a bit of a shock. Last time I read, they had a family argument and he left. Did not expect this to happen.

Sad news, I was hoping for a better outcome.

Deepest condolences to the family. Horrible to think they didn’t just lose a son, they had to deal with the nastiness of many people online at a time when all they needed was support.

    13. They had an argument about Mom using ChatGPT to navigate their way around Japan. Sustainability was hugely important to him. He ran off and took a train to a vast forest near Kyoto. A typhoon had come through and left the place drenched, and they were hindered in their search by wildlife. He was out there in these conditions in dense mountain forest with no food.

      Heartbreaking.

Fuck, I was seeing posts all week about search parties for him. Sucks that the outcome ended in tragedy.
