Vaffler and pinnekjøtt has to be the top ones

Edit: forgot to add, having tried many other countries local salmon, norwegian salmon is the clear winner.

    2. As a foreigner, I am not saying that Norwegian food is the greatest, but there are some pretty nice dishes, like komle (i am in Rogaland). Not lutefisk or smalahove though… (I am making waffels in the hytte as we speak, lol)

I love the taste of many of our traditional foods: pinnekjøtt, rømmegrøt, kjøttkaker i brun saus, vafler and many others. My favorite above all is komle.

I don’t eat animals anymore and some things are sadly hard to recreate with plants. So I don’t ear most of these things anymore. But luckily komle is easy to make vegan and still super tasty. Same goes for vafler.

Vaffler, sveler, kjøttkaker i brun saus, ribbe, torsk med bacon, grillet makrell. It all has to be homemade though, it doesn’t taste as good in restaurants 😄

I love love ribbe and pinnekjøtt! Kjøttkaker, sodd and fiskeboller are also great. When it comes to dessert, of course vafler, but also Suksessterte.

If properly cooked and with good ingredients I love most of it…

Have heard a lot of criticism about our food both from foreigners and Norwegians, but I really belive most of them just hasn’t had it prepared in a good way

    7. I love Norwegian food. I like plenty of other foods too, but the traditional Norwegian cooking really puts the ingredients and timing to the test.

A perfectly poached fresh cod with potatoes, summer cabbage and carrots only needs a little butter to make it a top notch meal, but if it is slightly older or poached for too long, I’ll be reaching for a sauce and wishing for more interesting veg.

The over cooked, dry fish in some restaurants is not it.

Pan seared Cod with oven baked potatoes and asparges/bacon kombo (or a fresh salad) i could eat every day tbh.

I love Norwegian food. I also love British food, which is supposedly sooo terrible.

It’s hearty and comforting food. It uses somewhat local ingredients, things that are good for you. It’s the kind of food your loving grandma would make and give you if you were feeling ill or sad.

Some of my favourites at the top of my head are sodd, Christmas ribbe dinner, salmon with vegetables and sour cream, finnbiff, and sour cream porridge with cured meats.

I’m a big sweet treat person too, and I love lefse with cinnamon and sugar, waffles with sour cream and jam, rice cream with red sauce, cloudberry cream, and basically all the biscuits we have around Christmas.

Reindeer is fucking great. Kjøttkaker are good, don’t mind plukkfisk but definitely needs bacon.

I got a soft spot for rømmegrøt something even my Norwegian wife doesn’t like.

Moved to Norway 4 months ago and my husband fell in love with fårikål and now we have to have it every second week 😅 I love brunost and vafler med rømme, can’t get behind rømmegrøt though.

I like semulegrøt, reinsdyrskav/finnbiff, komle, pinnekjøtt, vaffel, risgrøt, rabarbarasuppe/grøt, brenneslepai, brunost, tykklefse, bolle (bolle, kanelbolle, kanelkringle, skolebolle, solskinnsbolle, kardemommebolle etc), surkål, rabarbarapai, tilslørte bondepiker, munker, multekrem.

    14. Grilled turbot (piggvar) is about the best thing I have tasted in my entire life.

A lot of people simply don’t know how to prepare food properly and thus end up with bland food. Traditional Norwegian food needs to be balanced and treated properly to get flavour.

Well I’m born in Portugal so I’ll have any fish you wanna give me 🤣

The most traditional food you can eat in Norway is the friday-taco and grandiosa pizza
