He was missing for a week. Absolutely insane he could make it back and doesn’t even have any serious injuries! Those guys are crazy tough.

    2. In a miraculous feat of survival, 52-year-old Nepali Sherpa guide Dawa Sherpa was found alive on Mount Everest after being missing for about a week without food, water, or supplemental oxygen. Dawa was last seen on May 29, 2026, while guiding a client near the „Yellow Band“ above Camp 3 (7,200 meters). As the climbing season was ending and the route’s safety infrastructure was being dismantled, a cleaning crew from the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee spotted him on June 4. He was found crawling down the snowy slopes near the Khumbu Icefall, just above Everest Base Camp.

Upon discovery, Dawa was immediately brought to safety, given food and water, and airlifted via a rescue helicopter to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu. His sudden return deeply moved his family, who had already presumed him dead and begun funeral rituals. Dawa is currently receiving intensive care treatment for extreme dehydration, trauma, and frostbite. While Nepal’s mountaineering community has hailed his survival as nothing short of a miracle, the incident has drawn scrutiny regarding a delay in organizing the initial search efforts.

Dude was stuck in a crevasse for 2.5 days until it snowed enough and he CRAWLED OUT. Absolute legend.

BTW there’s a gofundme for him and his family.

How might this have played out differently, if it had been the guest and not the sherpa who had gone missing? Would we have left *them* in the cold? Would we have found them?

    5. It’s difficult enough trying to survive for a week in the wilderness… doing so on Everest is just unbelievable. These guys are superhumans.

    6. Incredible! The bits of information reported plays in my mind like a combination of Touching The Void and an episode from I Shouldn’t Be Alive!
