Law should be universal, you can’t make special laws for special groups, thats what they did in the medieval ages

🍿 popcorn time, this discussion has potential to land on a front page on 20min.ch . Burkini, SVP hot tub for controversy.

Ah yes, more stupid things to clog tribunals. They were already so fast and effective. GG Geneva. Again.

    4. As a ginger who burns on a cloudy day, I usually wear a long-sleeve rash guard when I’m swimming outside. When I go snorkeling, I’m also wearing long pants and a hood, which is basically a burkini. This is a silly hill to die on, forcing people to strip down to get into a swimming pool.

    5. I wear a UV protecting t-shirt when I go to the lake or swimmingpool, because I got tired of burning my whole back.

This would be banned in Geneva.

      That law is stupid.

SVP once again trying to solve the real problems and concerns of the people. Who is voting for this morons?

Everyone waits 9 months to finally go swimming at the badi after the cold months. It’s so nice to see everyone showing skin and sun bathing. It’s 100% European culture. It’s total metaphorical buzz kill to see a burkini.

Of course it shouldn’t be banned to wear longer clothing to swim in, but it does totally change the atmosphere when more and more women show up like this. Culture is real and affects everyone around— and it needs to be respected.

When I see a woman in a burkini I instantly feel sad that she can’t feel free in her skin. I also think it’s too genderising because Muslim men don’t have to cover up in this way. It’s not European culture to display gender inequalities.

    8. Does the Swimwear consist of 1-2 pieces? Does it end above the knee? Does it leave the arms free? Those seem easy enough to answer, how is that unclear?

This Islamophobic law (let’s be real here) is the perfect example of how it annoys and hurt the Swiss more than the people it’s targeting.

Since it was introduced, we’ve only seen reactions from Swiss people and Swiss parents, but not from Muslim women… isn’t that strange ?

As if it weren’t a real problem at all but just reactionary populism ?

Keep it up SVP, the funniest thing would be if they changed the law to allow UV protective clothing… which would render the law completely pointless afterwards !

I would put a law that would target the husband of the women. Watch others’ wives, make your wife wear “protection” from others’ eyes

    11. Or we could just ignore it and let people wear whatever the fuck they want to wear.

    12. I think it’s fair, like we are often forbidden to wear our clothes (shorts, shorter skirts or even showing arms) in many Muslim countries in order to respect their culture so should they respect ours
