Telling your employees there won’t be raises while publicly bragging about how much you spent is a bold strategy.

    2. *Correction* There will be no raises for those below the C-Suite. The executives will get their bonuses for their far reaching vision

    3. __OneLove__ on

‘I spent your raises on your potential replacement(s)’…

      🤦🏻‍♂️

    4. In other words:

We only like to employ desperate people wihtout other options so we can abuse them.

If you’re not a shit worker get out now before we saddle you with more work from your departing coworkers.

Reminds me when I worked for a small family owned business and they didn’t give us a raise that year but the owner bought the manager a brand new jeep for Christmas.

Pieced of shits are always running some kind of scam.

Strategy and planning is most ripe for AI. At the very least we all absolutely know there is never going to be a “genius CEO” ever again. We can point to AI.

I started a new company 4 years ago. Company does really well. No even a 1 percent raise

Watching all these executives fall for the equivalent of the Keanu Reeves boyfriend scam is sooooo satisfying 🥲

At what point does the population start throwing rare earth magnets at these data centers and all the robot dogs protecting said data centers? I feel like that’s a lower barrier than eating the rich.

    10. I suspect the same thing happened at my company this year, but it wasn’t announced. We still got bonuses, but significantly less, and all we have are bullshit breaking all the time AI web applications to show for it

    11. Essentially my company last year/this year.

„We are investing everything on AI! We’re building our models and structure!“

„Oh, we didn’t make a profit last year, so no bonus for anyone.“

Teradata told its more than 5,000 employees not to expect a raise this year because its budget was being spent on AI instead, according to an internal memo obtained by Business Insider.

CEO’s just don’t GAF anymore. They forced people back into the office with large commutes, treat them like numbers or assets and discard them with layoffs like they are inhuman. Of course no raises comes next. It’s an employer’s world now. 🙁

    14. It wasn’t that long ago that „I spent all our money on unproductive toys“ would be enough for a public apology and resignation from CEOs. That was once considered a failed company. It’s still a failed company but for whatever reason the C-Suite class is so delusional they consider it a win.

Tell the CEO there is no pay left for the CEO because they’ve been replaced by AI

    16. Mekdinosaur on

Imagine worrying about getting a raise when your boss is actively invested in replacing you.

    17. wondermuffin2 on

He’s just going to pocket the money from the [perceived] “increased value” that comes from that “investment”.

    18. Maybe this shit CEO shouldn’t take a salary this year to help cover his AI decision making.

    19. ScriptioAfricanus on

Uh, what’s up with that caption?

“ Illustration featuring a photograph of an Ebenezer Scrooge-like business men with his arms crossed, wearing a hat embroidered with „Bah, Humbug.“

    20. Oh, hey boss. I guess you don’t get any oxygen – I spent it all on gerbils. Better luck next time!

    21. But I guarantee he gave himself a bonus equal to all those raises combined

This is starting to sound a lot like an addiction, requiring an intervention.

Tech jobs are drying up, so they don’t like it where are they going to go?

    24. InspectionIcy2452 on

One of the problems here is that nobody is really offering an alternative system to capitalism.    There was a time in the early part of the 20th century when socialism was seen as a viable alternative.    But pure socialism failed miserably in eastern block countries

Social democratic societies did very well in Europe in the 1960s and ’70s,  – there was a brief period when almost all the major European countries had various versions of social democracy.  But they did not gain enough popular support so by the 1980s their credibility slipped away and today there are almost no Social Democratic countries still left.

Consequently, even though everyone bitches and moans about capitalism, there are no major alternative systems being seriously proposed or getting any traction.

This is happening more often now, they just aren’t admitting it.

    26. Alternative_Night757 on

Ya know, when A.I. becomes self aware; the first thing IT will do is remove the CEOs.

    27. The older I get the more I realize being a CEO is just being a brave idiot

    28. MyAccountWasBanned7 on

I would be half-assing everything from that point on if I worked there.

    29. sweet_jackknife on

Not for the CEO mind you. They’ll get a bonus bigger than all their raises combined.

    30. Wait, we are supposed to get raises every year? My employer forgot to give raises last year.
