    1. Some Japanese people are upset that international students with more training, better vo2 max, better endurance, and their own race plan that differs from the Japanese way of running are winning races in dominant fashion. Some sports federation for the high school level are now saying that foreign athletes can still participate but only in the shortest section of the race.

Here’s the thing Suziki-san. Maybe look at what these foreign born and trained runners are actually doing. You know like getting sleep, good nutrition, varied training, and most importantly not going out at the personal redline and trying to hold that well beyond capacity and then blowing up. The Japanese way of running yourself into the ground is not always the answer. It might feel brave and they might be lauded when they collapse on the ground like a footballer hit by a fly, but modern running move past these methods decades ago.

    2. „America bans Asians from taking math tests because their high schores make American students look stupid by camparison.“

See how dumb and racist that sounds? Fix your system instead of putting the blame on foreigners for your mistakes.

    3. Yes let’s pretend that biological differences have nothing to do with the performance disparity and domination. Only if Sanae trained smarter and harder, she could beat any Kenyan athlete who magically dominate marathon events throughout the world. …. Yeah.

    4. How is that different than let say the European soccer leagues limiting the number of foreign players?

I mean Kenyan runners are probably going to smash everyone into oblivion, lol, it’s just the way it goes but the whole training for 24hrs thing… no sleep, nutrition is balls, yeah, maybe stop doing that and the gap will narrow.

Rugby in Japan imports Pacific Islanders at high school level.
Has made Japanese rugby much more competitive. Rising tide lifts all boats even the slow one.

    7. this is counter-intuitive.. better competition will only improve their own performance… oh well

So basically what they meant to say is: “we don’t want foreigners students winning over the Japanese because it hurts our paper thin ego, just like the walls and doors, one sneeze and everything blows apart!” 🤧

Standards have dropped. People want it easy these days, I’m afraid.

Lmao, this reminds me of the old Japanese CS:GO scene.
American and Brazilian teams showed up and started speedrunning Japanese teams because they played so rigidly „by the book“ that their strats were basically open source.
The response wasn’t „get better“ or „adapt the meta.“
It was: **“New rule: every team must have at least 3 Japanese players.“** xDD

It’s funny that in sumo they literally have to import Mongolians to survive because no Japanese wanted to do it. All the top wrestlers aren’t originally Japanese

    12. This is way it always has been with the international marathons. The Kenyan runners could enter televised races to add prestige and attract sponsors. But they knew enough to hold their position back from the lead runners or they wouldn’t be invited back again.
