    1. Fucking weird that this isn’t already illegal everywhere. I don’t see a downside in tightening it up though.

    2. „The new law means an unconditional ban on cousin marriages, and foreign cousin marriages will, as a general rule, not be recognized in Sweden.

The aim is to counteract honor-related oppression, violence and other pressures.

It will also not be possible to enter into a marriage where one person is related in direct descent to the other’s siblings, nor will it be possible for half-siblings and siblings by adoption to marry.“

    3. What will happen to cousins who continue to fuck eachother ? In France polygamy is ban, yet nothing happens to the islamists who are still polygamous.

Everyone in this thread is somehow completely unaware of the amount of arranged marriages between cousins in Pakistani families.

Better move up those family reunion speed dating events in June to meet the cutoff!

I am surprised the powers that be in Sweden even allowed this to pass. I sort of feel if any normal person proposed this law they would be heavily censored for … well you know… I guess the politicians are finally getting the message that the people have had enough.

The fact we even have to make laws to stop people having incestuous relationships is mind numbing. Any cousin fucker out there you are a fucking weirdo.

I just want them not to come south of Europe.

We did this in Norway to. People aren’t talking about it, but I have friends working in homes for mentally challenged people. Most of the people living there have immigrant backgrounds and are likely a product of marriage between relatives.

If cousins get married abroad, will they be prosecuted in Sweden? What practical consequences does it have for a couple that their union is not legally recognized?

Blows my mind we still have it in the uk.

That’s the reason the number of kids born with disabilities in certain areas are going through the roof.

Every time one of these kinds of stories pops up I am always amazed that they exist in the first place.

You say it’s weird that this law didn’t exist. I know why this law only needs to exist now. We are not the same.
