Hardy will be fine. He has lots of connections, is seriously talented, most likely runs his own production companies and his father is a great screen writer. Do I agree with his actions? No but lets not kid ourselves. Worse people are still acting. Looking at you Mr. Leto.

I am starting to wonder if it’s substance abuse causing him to be unreliable. Everyone is always very careful about not saying it even if it’s true, bc it can lead to him being uninsurable for films.

I guess I’m still waking up, but it took me a moment to process this title, I was thinking that maybe the studio wanted to cut him out of appearing in the movie trailer, and he was demanding to be shown in it.
I like Tom Hardy as an actor and he seemed cool as a person.

There’s a line where you’re no longer the big dick on set; and that line is Pierce Brosnan and Helen Fucking Mirren.
Bad decision on his part
You have a call time, you are either on set at that time ready to work or you’re an asshole. I don’t care who you are, you show up when it’s time to work and you work.
Definitely not career suicide by any means, but yeah, not the first time he’s done something like this unfortunately

I’ve only ever read that he is a difficult motherfucker to work with.
That’s exactly why Charlize had a problem with him as well. He was constantly late, making everyone wait, and wasting time.
She called him out on it and he ripped into her.
This is one of many stories stating the same type of behavior. I’m disappointed. He has no reason to be rude to people and yet it seems undeniable that he’s a douche canoe.
The older I get, the more and more I understand how dickish it is to hold up shoots and delay things. Not necessarily on the account of Mirren and Brosnan — they will be fine in the end — but on the account of the tired and no doubt annoyed union workers that bust their asses to make the magic work.
It’s clear that there’s an art to managing the making of pictures, and if you’re a mess eventually no one will wanna work with you. Because it might be movies, but it’s also *work.*
It’s unprofessional, I totally understand where those actors are coming from. That being said, the shows success and viewership happened because Tom Hardy is a draw, jerk or not. This will not put me off watching his next project.
I get the sense Hardy has some emotional issues/defects or some undiagnosed mental disorder that makes him brilliant when he’s locked in and insufferable and virtually non-functional when he isn’t.

He apparently suffers from „dysthymia“ which is basically low grade persistent depression.
That would account for his behavior. Basically he’s „on“ or he’s „off“ and if he’s „off“ it’s very difficult for him to simply „turn it on“, so he goes into hiding in his trailer and probably stews.
So I actually think this is the opposite of ego. I think it’s a deep deep insecurity with his chosen profession.
But at the end of the day, it is a profession with some baseline expectations that are there so everybody can get the work done, not have their time wasted, etc.
From everything I am reading he hasn’t been formally fired yet, they’re just letting him know this has to change or the series may just be canceled or his character killed off and replaced with someone else.
Seems like some anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medications and a therapist would fix this issue- assuming that medication wouldn’t degrade his acting ability despite making him more available for his call times…
An unfortunate situation that, again, I don’t think is ego related, but genuinely mental health related.

Hard to know why this went on. He could be a dick. He could have drug issues. He could have a mental health issue like anxiety. It could be all 3 or none of them.
