Derzeit erfordert das Abhören in Japan einen Haftbefehl im Rahmen einer strafrechtlichen Untersuchung schwerer Straftaten. Nach dem neuen Gesetz wird die Regierung viel mehr Spielraum haben, jeden auszuspionieren, den sie will.

      Historically, this has only ever been used to spy on citizens who haven’t done anything wrong.

      This is how an authoritarian government starts.

      Primarily to be aimed at foreigners most likely, but who don’t love some good old fashioned spying on your own folks. But with most of their population aging out of competence and many older people not even using smart phones, I only kinda wonder what justification they even put out for expanding their already robust surveillance.

She’s trying to turn Japan into a police state like the US and China (I do not believe this is a coincidence after she met with Peter Thiel, whose entire thing is the creation of a surveillance state). I really hope the Japanese people don’t bury their heads in the sand like Americans have for the last 2 years.
