2 states in Alaska is an interesting idea.. Seward would just be Fairbanks and a few Native Alaskan settlements.

I can certainly see why this went nowhere. What was their reason for breaking up the states and forming new ones?

Seward would have like 8 people why make that a state? Also Erie doesn’t even border Lake Erie.

A state named for the famous Nathan Wind character in the NM-AZ area.

    5. I think it is interesting that it looks like it reduces metros crossing state borders.

The Bitterroot border ignores the geographic imperatives that formed Idaho’s eastern side altogether.

    7. I remember this one was first published. This organizes state lines around population centers, reduces fracturing of metro areas along state and county lines.

It’s one of those things that make a lot of sense on an economic and organizational level, but are politically impossible.

Dearborn doesn’t include the city of Dearborn and Erie doesn’t touch Lake Erie. Top level stupidity

    9. “Nebraska” is the Lakota word for that absolutely amazing river that the Europeans renamed the platte.

Personally, Nebraska is a much better choice for a name here than the platte.

      Funny things I noticed here:

-naming a state „Superior“ – they would never let that one go

-renaming Texas, those folks are so proud of being Texan, lol, you are now „Alamoans“

-renaming Louisiana (roughly) after a prominent geographical feature. Lets just name Colorado or Alaska „Mountains“ how about it.

I can say that the Central California counties in „El Dorado“ already don’t like being dominated by San Francisco and the Bay Area; hence the State of Jefferson movement. Adding some of Nevada is going to go over like a lead balloon.

    12. Dear Mr President,

There are too many states nowadays.

      Please remove 12.

      I am not a crackpot.

    13. I like how Hawaii is unchanged but they still decided to rename it anyway for the bants.

Bayou? Out of all the possible names, they landed on fucking Bayou??? Straight to jail.😒

Edit: I heard the people who made this were European. In that case, straight to the Tower of London.

    15. Platte barely has Platte County in it.

Prairie is to the east of most of thr prairies and plains.

So I would end up living in Dearborn, Biscayne, Albemarle, and Plymouth for sure, and probably on the border between Susquehanna and Hudson.

      Nah, f**k that.

    17. „Prairie“ is how I know the maker of this map has never been to the midwest.

    18. I feel like my biggest problem with these borders is they want to try and either be straight line or follow natural geography. The problem is the ones that theoretically follow natural geography somehow still look way too straight. Like it can’t decide if the border should follow those mountains or just be a straight line.
