I must secretly be a Japanese teen girl in my 30’s.
They asked every single one?!
There was another article today talking about the dangers of AI use among teenage boys in the UK, and there is a serious problem, especially in the way many AI designed to maximize user attention and repeat interaction, in many ways it is a form of psychological grooming. That said, there are many areas of life where Japanese teens need advice and feedback that they certainly aren’t getting from friends, family, teachers, etc. and there is a lot of room for AI assistants, especially if specifically designed to give life-affirming, health and well-being oriented advice, to provide guidance for teenagers without alternate support systems.
Well from the beginning to end of that title it was all just depressing, what a bleak world.
AI is one of the clever ways to share private information with social media giants. I wonder what they do with that information…
Girl gets assaulted and tries to find out what to do and the media twists it to the „AI makes people stupid“ take.. ridiculous.. she did the right thing..
her mom would’ve definitely tell her its not worth it because daddy would lose money if she did the right thing (calling the cops)
AI technology is still in its infancy. Its effects are going to be underestimated and overestimated by people of all ages while being misused, sometimes with dire consequences.
This is just one case where this became very apparent. Eventually, like the internet, both the people who make the tech and use the tech will figure it out (mostly). Until then we’re going to see headlines like these.
That being said Child Protection Services and police did the right thing because abused children will often try to protect their abuser parents. Japan has come a long way in this respect when so many times in the past Child Protection Services would just dismiss abuse as discipline or private family matter
