I’ve misread this as „3 in 4 Americans support joining the EU“ and like whaaaaaat…lol

Armenians are one of my favourite peoples. Really looking forward to the day they may join the EU.
The biggest hurdle is that they are landlocked without any adjacent EU-member state, and that they border the Middle East regions. That’s going to prove a hurdle for schengen/immigration in particular.

We don’t need another pygmy state with a veto, especially one bordering a terror state like Iran with 90 million potential refuges.

As much as I’d wish to see Armenia join the EU, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. They are in a very difficult neighbourhood and while they couldn’t contribute much to the European project, the would open the EU to more trouble.

Not going to happen any time soon. They are not in Europe, they don’t have borders with European countries. Same as Canada is not going to join, or any other random country.

Yeah no shit.
Russia as a “friend“ and all the stuff with Azerbaijan would make me also want to join something like the EU.

It’s probably not going to happen, but I would still love to see the EU support Armenia through education, infrastructure, security cooperation, and easier travel opportunities.

armenia in the eu sounds great, but the real plot twist would be turkey and armenia joining together as a forced group project.

armenia borders iran and has no land or sea connection to europe. anyone thinks armenia can join is delusional. they can join nato together with azerbaijan in future maybe.

Realistically we will never join until a huge iranian and russuan change in politics . However , working towards eu membership will massively benefit us, developing stronger relations with eu countries and lifting the country to EU standards will be huge.

There are Armenian communities in Syria & Palestine so if they do join the EU will have to have the guts to support those communities.

Nah, I don’t want a second Orban in Europe.

That would be lovely, Armenia is a nice country with an amazing history, but unfortunately in pragmatic geopolitics I just cannot see it as remotely feasible. Same with polling about Canada

Nothing against Armenians, but Armenia, like the rest of the Caucasus countries, isn’t a European country.

Just call it the new crusades. Armenians will be the focal point for crusades regardless of their arguments. They are Christian enough.
