Benjamin Netanyahu, who assumed office on 29 December 2022. He also held the office from 1996 to 1999 and from 2009 to 2021. Having served for more than 18 years, Netanyahu is the longest-serving prime minister in the history of Israel.

      Why leave him out?

The best part is that only Modi and Erdogan are the democratically elected ones out of all shown

Kim Jong Un took power in 2011, a year before Xi Jinping did. For some reason North Korea is shaded yellow but Kim isn’t shown?

    4. I wonder where Kim Jong Un is, considering that he became North Korea’s Supreme Leader in 2011, meaning that he’s been in office for 15 years.

For reference, this is like golf, not soccer. Big numbers are bad

    6. You have the wrong picture for Saudi Arabia or the wrong time frame.

The current king is the one who has been ruling since 11 years ago.

That is however a picture of MBS (whos is the current crown prince). You could argue he is the de-facto leader currently, but that hasn’t been the case for 11 years.

Ali Khamenei would have been second on the list with 36.5 years of tormenting the people of Iran, if he hadn’t been eliminated in February

Only Modi purely democratically elected. You can argue Erdogan but he is not quite democratically elected.

    9. Bin Salman still feels like a fresh new leader. It is hard to believe it has been a decade already.

Sheikh Hasina was in power for 16 years. She was kicked out couple of years ago.

    11. Narendra Modi is not the longest elected leader India has had. It is Jawaharlal Nehru. If not considering the interim government, it still is Indira Gandhi. Only after finishing the third term will he be close.

Mohammed bin Salam is not the de jure leader of Saudi Arabia, it’s his father Salman.

    13. Netanyahu is in his 18th year and should be on the list. You could also include Mahmoud Abbas.

Before you even start saying anything, let me immediately state that democracy is like this: If people elect a man for over 20 years, it means they elect him for over 20 years, and no one else has the right to say anything about it, especially not foreign countries, especially Western countries.

Erdoğan was PM for the first 12 years not the President. But yes still in power.

For Putin, it’s technically 22 if you don’t count Medvedev’s presidency.

The fact there are parents who’ve only known Vladimir Putin in public office is very astounding

Putin hasn’t officially been president for 26 years, he was from 2000 to 2008 and then from 2012 to today, he has been defacto president for 26 years, but not de jure
