Considering how many movies star talking animals, you could probably say the same thing about men over 60.

Kind of a stupid study because it looks at 100 films released in the UK over a recent 3 year period. If a popular actor during that time period is drawing crowds who is named Chris, of course they’re going to make up a plurality.

Also Christopher was one of the most popular names in the UK/US between 1970 and 1990. Guess who would be an adult, probably in movies in the 2020’s.

The article title leaves out the „box office hit“ criteria, and to that I say no fucking shit..

Between Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Chris Pine, that probably covers most of the list

It’s like that study was done on only Marvel movies, lol.

(I know it’s not just on that!)

And wait until you see the study about how women named “June” star in 100 % of movies starring 90+ years old women!!! 🤔 conspiracy?

Older women are not a target market. Though I must say as a 66 yo with her whole fam damily at the Mando-Grogu movie, I truly enjoyed seeing Sigourney pop up on the screen. And Meryl reprising her role last month was a treat as well.

    7. Down with all Chris‘. Where’s the pitchforks? Let’s get ready. Those damn men named Chris.

    8. I know what the article wants to say, but the fact that it really means “successful” films and not “all” films kind of defeats the purpose.

I think Chris is a beautiful name. Kind of like talking animals as well as women over 60. 🤷‍♂️

I was once listening to an actor who was a model beforehand who said the reason why the „women“ in modeling ads are usually underage is cuz those products sell with women much better than ads with models in their 20s. Conversely, ads targeting men sell best when the male models are between 25-35.

Something about how collectively, that’s the age range the sexes consider to be their own „peak“ age/looks-wise. So, considering that most men don’t really give AF about how ladies dress and smell, I think this study says more about how women feel about old ladies than men do.

I know this will come off as as misogynistic but the studies show once again that women are their own worse enemy.

How many stories/plots revolve around senior citizen women?

I get the point the article wants to make but correlation=/=causation.

Trey and Matt could make one about the old lady running the nursing home

I don’t disagree with the sentiment but using Demi Moore in the Substance as an example of “aging gracefully” was certainly a choice.

I’d be interested to know how the “actor called Chris” figure compares with men over 60.

I assume one issue here is that there are very few big leading roles for women over 60, whereas Hollywood is much more amenable to casting men over 60 in big roles.

Surely the fact that a lot of big box office hits star younger actors is a related issue.

At this point casting directors probably just have a group chat called Which Chris is free?

    16. so if any producers feel like printing money, here’s my elevator pitch:
*Chris pursues his dream of being an actor by moving to Hollywood.*

*rep’d by Shorty Gaines, a talking giraffe running the aptly named One Betterman Management, a boutique talent agency in NoHo, Chris discovers his best chance at success is convincing studio heads of a real opportunity to make more $$$, if they cast him for their female leads. as events unfold, it soon becomes clear to Chris that if he is to succeed, it might mean having to face an entire army of women set out to destroy him.*

*what no one realizes though, is an even bigger, underground movement is readying itself to enter the world stage of entertainment. comprised of thousands of species in the animal kingdom, a formidable force of deadly felines, arachnids, and invertebrates are out for blood, they are all capable of the impossible, and that capability is talking.*

ideally, Mel Gibson would get first refusal to direct, as his male-driven philosophy would fit well with this one. Netflix distributing makes sense, as their newfound leadership also aligns with what the vibe of my film pitch is going for. the working title i have going is **ACTORVATOR**.

Chris is literally one of the most common names on the planet…

What role should we give to a woman over 60 in the Steve Irwin Biography – Steve Irwin or the crocodile?

    19. Secret-Put-4525 on

There’s not really movies staring women over 60 as box office hits, maybe because women who’d enjoy those kind of movies don’t go to the theater to see them.
