Lol suing when they already have large amounts of graft built into any agreements made. Mikesew group of companies are always poor service high price but a requirement of the contract, so get hired anyways. Then they outsource to tfws instead of indians thus preventing prosperity for the reserve outside of band leaders.
Reptilian_Brain_420 on
Do they also get to sue themselves for all of the band members who work in the Oil and Gas industry?

Tuccaro group owns many oil service companies. Seems strange to actively participate in an industry then sue that industry.

Somehow I have doubts they care about the environment that much. Giving the recent history with the FN claims, their demand translates actually into „we want more money“ …as usual. These FN should realize they are playing with fire especially in these times of economic hardship. If they imagine that a piece of paper signed hundreds of years ago with a foreign entity will give them forever increasing privileges they are dreaming.
Soon they may find out what are the thoughts of rest of 96% non FN Canadians about this.To imagine that 3% of this country’s population may impose their will to the rest of 97% is purely delusional and may lead to very unpleasant consequences for the FN.

Well, if the Albertan government has enough money to create a million and one separation referendums and stances, I guess they have enough money to share it with the FNs…

Have a look at the NASA images of the oil sands projects in 1969 and now, if possible. This rapidly expanding area encroaches on FN traditional territories impacting food sources and clean water, never mind air quality. Cancer at a rate above that of the rest of the country deviates families and communities.
Is money is the objective (and a desire to live the kind of life consumerism promotes is the only reason for action,? I believe ‘quality of life’, even life itself is the issue here.

The Blueberry Decision was the tip of the iceberg for these sorts of lawsuits. Soon the rest of Canada will be dragged into the same quagmire that BC is currently wading through.
Can’t wait for this to drag down our entire economy for the next 50 years.

The year is 2100. Indigenous affairs lawyers make up 34.6% of Canada’s entire workforce and half of the federal budget is spent by the government fighting itself in court.
Prime Minister MechaTrudeau IV and his finance minister DigiHarper III address the 3 territories, 9 provinces, and the 138 co-governors of former British Columbia on the new budget which „will either feature a 1B surplus or a 485B deficit, depending on how our court cases go this year.“
The press conference is shown recorded on holodeck from the parliament building that the Canadian government rents from the legal owners of Ottawa, the Algonquin Anishinabe first nation. It begins with a land acknowledgment.
