Interesting. Sounds like it’d burn up pretty quickly though. And cockroaches and other beetles like to eat cardboard.
Why don’t use brick?
People used to insulate modest homes (tar paper shacks etc) with paper, cardboard, fabric and the like, any found items really. Mold is a real problem though. Unless they can seal it perfectly, it seems like a problem
We’ve had cheaper framing alternatives a long time.
It’s everything else in construction that’s expensive.
