      If they are seeking asylum, they can do that in the US. Why cross from US to Canada and then claim asylum. If you have a valid asylum claim, any country will take it

      So people who enter the USA illegally and have no right entering Canada are handed over to American law enforcement to answer for their crimes. Why is this news.

      These stories always leave too much in the grey. He’s seeking an exemption to safe third because of his aunt in Canada. She’s conveniently “temporarily out of the country for an emergency”. Legit claims aren’t difficult to prove. Those that are denied can’t provide evidence of their claims.

      The entitlement of showing up, demanding to be let in, and crying to the media when rejected. „This door keeping strangers out of your home is too rigid.“

      Canada cannot and should not be where illegal immigrants in the US turn to, not least because they may try to re enter the us illegally

      This is a normal thing and it’s good.

      Great news. Would be instant deportion for those who attempt entering canada through unofficial channels.

      Why are people surprised that Canada is following the law. Until the Safe Third Country agreement is either destroyed or changed. This is what should be happening.

      Canada can’t let the entire world in because other places suck. Canada’s services and systems and housing are all already at max stress. There is literally billions of people that „Need help“ in some manner.

      Hell, Canada has 100,000+ Homeless Canadian citizens and 3-4 million unique visitors to food banks every month.

      Even the Global compact of refugees from the UN has stated that host countries should not take on more refugees then they can handle, as doing so creates strife and anti-refugee sentiment in the citizen population.

      That’s not my words, thats the UN. Not to mention Canada is dealing with the legalized slavery crisis through TFW and LMIA’s with the 5 million temporary residents over the last 10 years thats floating around the gray area’s in the country.

      If we designate the US an unsafe country that would mean we should accept Americans as refugees to Canada which is ridiculous.

      These people never go further than 1 step into the logical ramifications of their ideologically motivated ridiculous arguments.

      I’m certainly no fan of ICE, or much of anything that regime is doing down there; but nations **do** have the right to control who does, and does not, enter their borders, and under what conditions. That goes for Canada, the US, and anywhere else.

      It’s unfortunate that these people’s lives are in such a state that they have to become refugees, provided that they *actually are* refugees and not economic migrants misrepresenting their cases; but that doesn’t automatically make it Canada’s problem. We have our own, serious, domestic issues; and, ideally, Canada’s bleeding heart days are over, for noncitizens at least.

      Fine by me. They enter US illegally trying to get citizenship got deny and now want to do the same in Canada. They could say you know go back to their home country.
