Great for him, but his poor ex-wife.
Like, good for him that he gets to finally live authentically, but it’s weird to see people try to outright deny that he screwed with his soon-to-be-ex-wife’s life and say he’s not at least in part directly responsible for the pain he caused with his decisions. If he grew up in a homophobic religious environment, 100% chance it was also a deeply misogynist environment, which may have simultaneously led him to, consciously or not, minimize the harm he would be causing her by marrying her. People are kinda fine with this because we’re already conditioned to view women as justifiable collateral damage on the road to men’s self-actualization.

To be fair I don’t know their relationship and for all I know he told her and they just stuck together as friends, but I mean from the outside… like the emotional damage you’re giving to your wife over lying to her for 14 years is crazy. I get some people take a while to figure it out, and it sounds like he grew up with a lot of internalized homophobia, but like Christ… I wouldn’t exactly praise him for this.
