I seriously hope we can one day change the constitution (just probably not in our lifetime) to remove life tenure for judges.

    2. (Congressman Steve Cohen’s Articles of Impeachment):

„Article One – The Chief Justice allowed the Court to become a partisan force, in breach of the constitutional guarantee of a republican form of government, due process, and equal protection of the laws, and the Chief Justice’s obligation to “administer justice without respect to persons” and “faithfully and impartially” discharge his duties. Time and time again, the Court has violated its own principles with a pattern of interfering in elections on behalf of Republican candidates.

Article Two – Under Chief Justice Roberts’ stewardship, the Court systematically preferred the powerful over the people, undermining the notions of popular sovereignty, representation, and democracy at the heart of a constitutional republic. Taken together, Chief Justice Roberts led the Court to license a system of political exclusion that could entrench minority rule at the expense of the will of the people – a grave violation, with incalculable damage, to participatory democracy enshrined in our Constitution.

Article Three – Chief Justice Roberts violated his oath to “do equal right to the poor and the rich” by endorsing a corrupt campaign finance system that privileges the wealthy at the expense of all other citizens.

Article Four – Chief Justice Roberts violated the Constitution of the United States and his Judicial Oath by usurping Congress’s legislative role and exempting the President of the United States from criminal liability for illegal conduct. In placing a single person above the law, Chief Justice Roberts breached his oath to “administer justice without respect to persons.”

Article Five: Chief Justice Roberts’s leadership of the Court is marked by the Court’s arbitrary, unexplained, and inconsistent decisions that violate the Constitutional protections of the parties.

Article Six: Chief Justice Roberts violated his ethical and statutory obligations by failing to fully report assets on his financial disclosures and refusing to recuse himself from cases that presented perceptions of a conflict of interest. While on the bench adjudicating some of the most sensitive matters, Jane Sullivan Roberts, the Chief Justice’s spouse, was being paid millions of dollars to recruit attorneys by the very firms litigating before the Court. This conduct directly violates 28 U.S.C. § 455. More importantly, it violates the constitutional structure and the parties’ constitutional rights to an independent and impartial magistrate to adjudicate their claims.“

Proverbially burn this MF and his entire family and his allies in his Supreme Court cabal to the f***ing ground. Respond to the war they’ve been waging against the Constitution and the people by waging war against them.

I think John would feel less lonely if he could have his pals like Alito and Thomas join him in the impeachment club. Dem’s should go for the hat trick on this one.

    5. enjoycarrots on

I’m all for impeaching him, but on the (minuscule) chance that this was successful in removing him, would we want that to happen while Trump is still president and able to appoint a younger replacement that’s even more partisan?

    6. Actual__Wizard on

I read the entire complaint and I agree with all of it because it’s all true.

    7. EmperorAxiom on

I don’t disagree that he should be impeached.I disagree that he should be impeached at this moment. If this succeeded trump gets another pick fuck that

    8. Better pray that one of them doesn’t step down. I could see that happening. And Trump gets a fourth pick.

    9. 2LiveGucciCrew on

In a perfect world the next Democratic president would be an aggressive anti Trump. Who would appoint Jack Smith AG. Then tell him to go after all these corrupt clowns.

    10. aslan_is_on_the_move on

No he doesn’t. It’s not going to go anywhere since Republicans are in charge

    11. Rep Cohen is retiring because his Memphis seat got carved up due to the overturning of the Voting Rights Act.

So a fitting FU on his way out.

Even though it won’t go anywhere, it’ll be part of Roberts legacy that an impeachment resolution was filed against him.

    12. It isn’t going to go anywhere but that’s probably good because Rump will put in someone far worse.

    13. CloudTransit on

It’s political! Oh no, John Roberts will be so sad. The poor man detests anything political.

    14. Remove Roberts so trump can appoint someone 30 years younger? Maybe go after the orange turd first.

    15. Choice-of-SteinsGate on

We need to amend the Court so that an actual code of ethics can be enforced.

It’s no coincidence that public trust in SCOTUS has plummeted on his watch.

Remember that the Senate published a huge report detailing how the Court „allowed a culture of misconduct to metastasize into a full-blown crisis.“

      Roberts basically scoffed…

The same guy who has been pushing back for years against criticisms of the Court’s politicization, but was the one who authored Trump’s immunity ruling, and also continues to rule in Trump’s favor on unprecedented numbers of „shadow dockets.“

This is a headline that only matters to people who don’t know how the government works

    17. adorientem88 on

He doesn’t face anything. The resolution is fundamentally not serious and is obviously DOA in the House.

    18. Deaths_Rifleman on

Why the fuck would this be a good idea? You impeach the chief justice to allow Trump to appoint yet another young cult member? This seems really really fucking short sighted

    19. Wayofchinchilla on

Democrats absolutely need to be doing what Republicans did with project 2025 and putting together a comprehensive one might even say vindictive plan for not how to screw people but fundamentally change and reform the system that is so broken this country absolutely needs an update to its system and then out the top of that list should be plans for how to reform the Supreme Court.

    20. Let’s hand another lifetime appointment to Donald Trump and the Heritage Foundation.

    21. I dont like the timing of this. Its obviously not going to go anywhere and it just gives Republicans fodder for their „extremest liberals“ talking point. It could sway some independents in toss up states. This would have been something that would have been nice to pursue after the dems hopefully won the house. Then it may pick up some traction and would send a message that the dems are willing to fight

    22. The constitution is used to stop Democratic presidents and ignored by Republican ones

    23. This feels dangerous… sure he’s a cheat, but that gives Trump another appointment.

    24. RadiantPerception224 on

Idk how these „justices“ fucking sleep at night, know full well the destruction of America they’ve enabled.

    25. Practical-Ball1437 on

Great idea, make the Chief Justice role vacant during a trump term…

    26. Cynical leftist viewpoint:and let *Trump* pick the next Chief Justice of the United States?

    27. Embarrassed_Hold6608 on

So impeach an institutionalist who is more likely to side with the liberal justices on issues than most of the conservative justices? And impeach him less than two years into the Trump administration guaranteeing Trump gets to appoint his replacement? It’s a good thing that this resolution stands no chance of passing because this is textbook cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Alito and Thomas are the justices that most need impeaching and not until we have a new administration.

    28. Firm-Film-3594 on

I hope they screw all these scumbags to the wall. What a bunch of grifters and henchmen.

    29. You don’t get more partisan than Roberts and you don’t get more corrupt than Thomas.

    30. I don’t like this “tactical impeachment” point of view I see some people have. Like they want Roberts gone because he’s committed impeachable offenses (as of today), but then want to wait x years to do it because a Republican is the president.

If you think he’s done all these horrible things, then get him out ASAP.

*I don’t think this position is completely equivalent with being “holier than thou”, but it shares a lot of similarities.

    31. This is risky. Trump could urge the Republicans to pick this up and ram it through.

Like they did with the “Release the Epstein Files” vote.

If this gets to the Senate, I could see Republicans happily piling on to push this over the two thirds hurdle.

    32. thepartypantser on

I think the timing on this is bad. It’s telegraphing the punches, it’s showing your hand.

This will result in more weaponized propaganda to bring out Republican voters.

It does nothing right now, has no chance of going anywhere, and should have been held back until after the mid-tetm elections

    33. Pr3sidentOfCascadia on

Stupid idea. Wait until we retake the elements of govt we can and pack the court. Do it fast and no quarter. make Roberts irrelevant instantly. Then use the avenues Trump created and hit it hard, only giving in when the other side agrees to create laws that restrict their collective action.
