That’s a 23% death rate, almost 1 in 4. A global pandemic would essentially end society as we know it.

    3. Wait, this guy is still in WHO? He didn’t do such a great job during the last pandemic did he?!

Good thing I’m in the US and we don’t accept this illness! /s 😭

People comparing to covid, but ebola is not even in the same ballpark.

If you were on the fence about covid legitimacy as a threat, the effectiveness of the vaccine, etc – one look at a family member dying of ebola and you would be beating down the doors to get protected in any way possible.

Ebola is no joke, no room for debate.

Don’t read „Hot Zone“ by Richard Preston. You’ll be scarred for life.

    6. While 600 suspected cases between Congo & Uganda isn’t that many but they don’t have the greatest Healthcare systems, and this could spread fast. WHO did say that they did think the chances were decent for this to become a pandemic in those two countries.

I think I read somewhere that Ebola isnt really a contender for being a global threat because its too good at killing people. Infected people die before they can spread it to too many people, before long the disease kills itself out.

Feel free to call me an idiot if im wrong lol

    8. Please don’t come to the US, people are too stupid to be able to contain this. Plenty of Americans will think that they’re „bigger than this“ and „it will never happen to them“. Those people won’t wear a mask to prevent a pandemic but will wear a mask to kill innocents in the streets.

      > Health authorities say the outbreak is being fuelled by the Bundibugyo strain, a type of Ebola virus for which no vaccine or treatment exists.

    10. Can an epidemiologist chime in and inform me on what causes viruses to mutate? How likely is it that it mutates to become airborne? Idk how any of this shit works

I was in Sierra Leone for the big 2013-4 Ebola outbreak. It’s the worst way a person can die.

My heart breaks for those families over there. Thats a terrible illness to die from and they have to be terrified.

    13. I doubt anyone is even considering that an opportunistic nation could already have or rapidly work on a mutated version that spreads airborne. Put it out in their enemies path somehow and then sit and say “oh wow, look what nature did” and get away with it. These are scary times no matter how much some folks like to diminish the threat.

This is because of defunding of USAID. DOGE caused this outbreak. Elon caused these deaths.

If only there was an agency in the US that could provide AID to the current outbreak. Hmmmmmmmm

    16. Boy oh boy am I so glad I’m living through the 2020s lovely decade thru and thru
