    2. This was the obvious result? Who’s actually surprised by this? Sure, you can’t retire off $400K but, for most in Korea, it’s still a ton of money and the prospect of getting a similar bonus the following year? No surprise people are jumping ship.

      the dating app angle is wild but honestly not that surprising. Korea has always had a very visible status hierarchy around employment. SK Hynix was already a flex, now it’s basically a golden ticket.

      What goes up must come down. When, it’s not if, chip market comes down and Samsung management announce a mass „downseizing“ what they will do ? I am old enough to remember IMF crisis and how people treated former Kia employee.
