I will not buy a single one. I do not trust Beijing.

I wish we could just stop using dealerships.
They benefit the consumers in absolutely no way.
I was literally going to buy a Ford EV a few weeks ago, but didn’t because the dealership refused to give a discount to get under the EV rebate threshold. Meanwhile someone else I was talking to got the exact same vehicle but his dealership was willing to add a 5k discount to make the deal work.
So stupid.

I can’t wait to find out which dealerships will be setting up where, and models and prices that’ll be available. So far there’s been very little info on any of that, nor when they might be announced.

hopefully they do direct to consumer

LOL, they really expect China will sell via their dealership in New Brunswick. Most of the EVs will be chinese-made teslas, the rest will be sold via their own dealerships in Richmond and Markham,

It’ll be so nice to get access to ones like the BYD models finally.

So when are they going to build them here, in accordance with Canadian norms and by Canadian workers?

Having purchased Tesla though their direct to consumer model, a Mazda through a dealership shopping around, and a Ford through the web portal and contacting a dealership to honour the web pricing.
I have to say I really hope that the Chinese EVs go Web pricing match mandate through dealer network, and not do the boutique model Telsa has.
The benefit of the dealership model is a good training network of mechanics and parts people. Tesla is just shit when it comes to servicing vehicles, and having parts availability. For low mileage drivers doing 10,000-15,000km/yr it isn’t going to matter to them, but if you’re a person that can’t just spring for a cab if you need to get to work when your car is tied up for an extra day or 2 waiting on parts the boutique model with limited service centres leaves a lot to be desired.

Chinese made Teslas, Volvo and Polestar are going to use up the majority of the quotas. I dont see BYD in dealerships at any volume any time soon..

„dealerships“ Great. Any hope we would get affordable vehicles now goes out the window.

All the major car companies are reporting losses including Toyota and Honda. Some of them for the first time ever (Honda). Let introduce a new maker that can sell slave labour rates against North American jobs.
Well played Carney.

What happened to the „buy Canadian crowd“? People actually considering buying a Chinese vehicle is wild.

If it helps BYD are using dealerships in Australia. There’s even one is a regional town of 150k people.
