    1. [Reuters reports – ](https://uk.news.yahoo.com/exclusive-pakistan-deploys-jet-squadron-111017743.html?ncid=redditnewsus) Pakistan has deployed 8,000 troops, a squadron of fighter jets and an air defence system to Saudi Arabia under a mutual defence pact, ramping up military cooperation with Riyadh even ‌as Islamabad serves as the main mediator in the Iran war.

The deployment, the full scale of which is reported here for ‌the first time, was confirmed by three security officials and two government sources, all of whom described it as a substantial, combat-capable force intended to support Saudi Arabia’s military if the kingdom comes under further attack.

Pakistan’s military and foreign office and Saudi Arabia’s government media office did not respond to requests for comment on the deployment.

Can anyone give context to that? I’m wondering: They are not hostile towards Iran, right? For that, they take that defense pact very seriously.

Is it that they want to assert that Saudi Arabia will also commit if the India situation flares up again, so that the US steps in? Would SA do they? They didn’t when that Op Sindoor happened, right?

Do they want to calm the situation because Iran wouldn’t want to fight Pakistan forces?

What are the implications and mechanisms here? I have no clue about that.
