    1. Saying the quiet part out loud.

Hey China, we don’t say stuff like that anymore. We just pretend that it’s not happening.

    2. yeah that is probably more propaganda to tell people how good they have it under party rule, than based on any facts

It’s pretty accurate. I don’t see anything wrong with the statement.

I’m surprised we don’t see more anti-immigrant claims from foreign countries about Switzerland outside the EU, in the end they all benefit if we stay away from the EU. Also, what a timing to write about this „news“ now shortly before the 10 mill initiative

The only correlation between criminality is income and poverty. It has absolutely nothing to do with nationality. We could stop people from coming, but then, without cheap labor – guess what – worse economy, less income for us, same result – maybe even worse

    5. China uses these travel advisories politically. They often have no basis in reality whatsoever.

For example, China recently issued [travel advisories about Japan](https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202603/1357631.shtml#:~:text=China%20advises%20nationals%20not%20to,alert%20of%202026%20%2D%20Global%20Times) after their PM made statements about Taiwan.

In short, ignore this. Im guessing one of our politicians pissed them off somehow. Maybe it’s about those [new posters telling tourists to behave themselves,](https://www.srf.ch/news/schweiz/ruecksicht-auf-einheimische-neue-kampagne-touristen-sollen-sich-an-schweizer-regeln-halten) which feature obvious Chinese looking tourists and are quite obviously targeted towards them.

Just today I witnessed a pickpocket, full day, Geneva city centre, in one of the busiest streets.
Two weeks ago while I was in a second-hand store in Plainpalais two kids tried to snatch a kickscooter on display and luckily the owner caught them in time.

Obviously, I can’t say anything about their background without being downvoted into oblivion

Well, I see nothing wrong about this. It’s literally the truth. Groups of organized beggers around the trainstations, french speaking migrants from the banlieus in the deepest countryside checking out our homes at 2 am. That’s what we’re dealing with. Whether the breaking point was us joining Schengen might be questionable, but things definitely got worse. And it’s harmful to tell tourists that it’s so safe here that they can leave their bags unattended.

Die EU Aussengrenze ist eh ein Witz

I mean its definitely true in Geneva. The amount of crime and homelessness (actual or scams) is through the roof when you compare to 2008 or so when I first arrived. the entire left bank for the most part has seen crimes that you dont think that would happen.

Most recent one was a high profile (in terms of location) robbery at knife point during watches and wonders just last month. Stabbed 8 times on the street in front of a bar.

This one was bad too right downtown on the main street.
