This makes complete sense. NASA transitioning to a commercial services model for Mars relay communications, similar to how they handle LEO resupply, will free up their budget for deep space exploration while fostering a new interplanetary commercial market

I wonder if any proposal includes one or more satellites positioned at the L4 or L5 points of either Mars or Earth orbit to allow communication while Earth and Mars are in opposition.
