You’re NOT a writer if you use AI.
Well he’s not wrong. Every AI video I’ve seen is from people with very little imagination, an axe to grind, or both.
It also makes you demonstrably dumber every time you use it. We are robbing entire generations of their cognitive function.

I could maybe see a case for using AI as an editing and proof reading tool..
But thats just the thing right? It should be a tool a creator uses to help them… not just something you use to do the work for you.

The problem when discussing AI is how it’s used. I have a problem if you’re asking AI to create a story, and then you’re tweaking it a bit, then calling it your writing. I don’t have a problem if you’re creating your own work, and then letting AI proofread it for grammar issues, because we’ve had that since that little paperclip in Microsoft word. If the cognitive load is being shouldered by AI, it’s not your work.
If you use AI to write, not only are you not a writer, but you are a thief.
I’ve signed a class action lawsuit against Anthropic for stealing my work. Any person that uses AI to write is stealing MY ideas, MY prose, and MY creativity.
If you use Ai art or Ai writing you’re neither a writer nor an artist.

AI could write shows better than most of the CBS lineup. 😛 I don’t think the issue is what you call yourself, it’s how long will it be until the drivel on most networks is written by brain dead AI versus brain dead human writers. AI isn’t creative. It can take formulas and spit out the same garbage humans do using the same formulas. Real artists don’t have much to worry about. But great art will still continue to have a hard time making it on networks and standard distribution networks.
