Baroque sure did know how to make eye catching architecture!
Went there last summer. Loved every bit of it.
The craziest part about this is that it’s completely privately financed, the Asam brothers made a fortune designing church interiors all over south Germany so they just built their own „perfect“ church „at home“
My wife and I stumbled onto the Asamkirche 25+ years ago, it was still an active church then and photography was verboten! They has a sign that read: this church is not a museum, photogrphy is forbidden. We were in Munich for the 2025 Christmas Markets and saw the chuch is quiet the tourist stop now. The Hotel Atlanta down the street was still going strong.
