      >The new agreement commits both the federal government and Alberta to consult B.C. on the proposed pipeline, and it could be declared in the national interested by the federal government by October, which would expedite the project.
However, Eby said in a statement issued Friday that it can’t be the case that projects get prioritized in Canada because a premier threatens to leave the country, referring to the separation movement in Alberta.
The premier said Ottawa must work as closely with B.C. projects as it does with Smith’s pipeline, a proposal that still lacks a proponent or a route.

[Interesting little map ](https://x.com/TristinHopper/status/2055351106310651969)of potential major projects the feds are considering.

I hate Smith more than anyone but Eby being the one to throw stones right now strikes me as pretty funny.

He is not wrong, but Quebec got many good things by playing separatism, now Alberta proved it is the only way to get anything from feds. I wonder who is going to be next

Eby barely has a legitimate government and doesn’t even own the land his government sits on anymore, he shouldn’t be the one to judge.

As opposed to B.C’s good behaviour by throwing land claims into limbo

    6. Eby should focus on the disastrous mess he and company got BC into with DRIPA. Ironically, at this pace, BC is closer to separation than Alberta will ever be.

    7. Sure, I suppose it is but giving the squeaky wheel the grease is kinda our thing. It usually manifests as extortion, enablement, protectionism or subsidies.

Can we let the one that augments our trade negotiations go through? You undermined our entire province’s sovereign and economic future to boost your perceived altruism

Mr. Burns rewarded Alberta with more carbon tax. Which will result in higher gas prices, higher food prices and higher cost of heating a house in winter. That is all.

“He is awarding Alberta with stuff…..we don’t have anymore land for stuff in BC🥺…we gave it all away. It’s not fair”

Maybe cause Carney is not a child. And yes he’s rewarding Alberta cause that’s his job. He still has to look out for all 5 million plus Albertans. He can’t punish millions of people cause DS is a traitor.

      Edit; updated population

Eby will say or do anything he thinks will be a political win in BC, regardless of the outcome.

Who cares what its rewarding if its beneficial for Canada and Alberta?

It’s called fighting for your province, Eby should get a clue.

The reason Quebec gets so much special treatment is because they fought like hell. Western Canada needs a strong province to fight for our interests, because we all know the only provinces that currently matter to Ottawa are the Eastern and Maritime provinces.

It’s called „leverage,“ and Smith would be a fool to not use it.

Eby is a becoming some what of an unserious individual and so is Smith. I hope that they can find a way before this becomes a clownshow.

whats he care…. Isnt he on his way out and being replaced by the BC conservatives?…

It was sort of telling when we had the first minister meeting and all the premier came together and seemed to be more less on the same page. Eby instead went to China and then commented later that he had objections.

Eby: „Canada needs to work together“

      Ottawa: *starts nation building*

      Eby: „No, not like that!“

    18. Just a partisan distraction from BCs housing, health and now property crisis

If the NDP lose the next BC election in a couple years or the government is taken down, I could see the BC Conservatives copying Alberta and threatening to leave Canada if they form government.

I don’t think anyone takes the Alberta separation movement seriously but the fact remains that we (Canada) need to be able to get our oil to the coast and the most logical path is through B.C.

    21. Don’t worry, Dave. That DRIPA shit you guys pulled in BC will be nice obstacle to a pipeline to the west coast.
