Those are the real jobs lost. Not the public sector ones paid for by everyone else including. People may start paying attention to political platforms now..

„Just think of all the private sector jobs we could generate if we sell every airport and seaport in the country!“

I’m pretty sure things are a lot worse than Carney is saying. I’ve heard the private funds who stepped into the loan market vacated by the banks when regulations tightened have started limiting withdrawals to prevent a run on their capital. All this talk about selling off our assets, the record insolvencies, and so on… things are tilting in a very bad direction and Carney is starting to flail.

Maybe they should track down all the people working under the table and not paying taxes and send them home. I’m certain some of our jobs will come back.

Sure. Comes part and parcel with the trade friction, temporary population decline, and the inevitable death of some unproductive companies. The short time frame is just noise.
Reassess employment numbers, productivity, and wage growth in a couple years.

lines up with OECD expectation that Canada will be the worst performing economy in G7 for the *next 30 years*

People asked for less government spending and drastically reduced immigration. All of those things result in fewer jobs until new ones are created, which can take years.
I’m optimistic for Canada’s future, I think we’re headed in the right direction (finally). But job losses and economic pain in the short term is the expected outcome of what Canadians voted for.
And that’s not even getting into the fact that the US is actively trying to harm our economy (and apparently their own as well).
