Being passenger to a shitty driver is honestly one of the worst things in the world. Actually the kind of things I have nightmares about.
What a terrible way to go.
This whole thing could have (possibly) been avoided if the club’s advisor had been on the bus with them.
In my country if there is any school trip, before anyone even is allowed to board bus, Police need to come and check everything. Its really common sense.
The fact that some were already feeling uneasy….and kept it quiet because “shoganai”… it only adds insult to injury. I can’t imagine how those poor parents must be feeling… edit: that’s what I mean about “minding others people’s businesses”, it you feel it’s affecting yours or someone else’s safety, SPEAK UP.
What a shit show this accident is, all parties are just pointing fingers at each other trying not to take the blame.
A lot of comments seemingly based on unfounded assumptions in this thread, but all we know from the linked article, other than the information in the title itself is that the driver was one Tetsuo Wakayama, age 68, unemployed (according to the article) from Tainai City, Niigata, and that he hit some gardrails. We assume, hard enough to kill one kid and injure 17 others.
We don’t know anything else, whether kids said anything to the driver, anything else that was going on, who else was on or not on the bus, or even why they were on the bus.
So if you know something, it might be cool to link to the source.
