Sorry but they’re massive creeps for debuting a child (who isn’t even skilled enough to keep up with the other members), when they had so many other great options – especially given the mature direction of the group they’ve indicated so far. Everyone knew Sakura was going to make it despite her obvious shortcomings and now the group will suffer for it.

After following the creation of Katseye and reading the comments here, I do kinda wonder if it’s strategic to have the youngest member be East Asian. The youngest typically has less revealing outfits and is treated more endearing than sexy. Idk, just a thought.

HxG has had months to take better photos and make her look more interegrated but these are the photos they chose. i didnt watch any content for the show but cross several subs i have seen barely anybody who actually has liked this decision for the last member. i think its time that hybe labels give up on survival shows. just pick your groups behind the scenes instead of getting peoples hopes up
jokes aside, i already wasn’t super sure about this group because HxG’s mismanagement of Katseye and Samara’s controversies but now, i really don’t know.
number one, the name is horrible. even prelude was a better name and after they sent them to events and had them do so much marketing and promotion as “prelude”, it feels strange to change it so suddenly to something entirely different. and something that doesn’t sound very good too. it doesn’t even seem like a girl group name, more like a new quiet luxury brand or a catholic college.
number two, Sakura is very sweet and she *is* improving but i don’t think she was debut ready yet, certainly one day but not today in this group. Ayana just was the better choice, the same age, fits the mature concept, more debut ready and importantly, she’s a vocalist. the existing lineup is very talented but isn’t super vocalist heavy (it’s really just Samara who is very good but shouldn’t have to carry a group alone) so i think they really needed the extra vocal support.
compare that to Sakura who is 15, does have alot of stage presence but isn’t quite there yet to be in a mature global girl group, stands out visually because of her age, dance skills that are growing but just aren’t there yet and her cuter look/concept, and who isn’t a vocalist and can’t add to the vocal balance.
and the fact that on top of all of that, they’re going to have a mature concept and are singing songs with lyrics like “imagine how good you’ll feel when we arrive” which can easily be read as innuendo, especially with the sound and choreo they’re doing. it just doesn’t feel right or make sense at all to me.
so now, we have a 15 year old who’ll be in a group with 20-21 year olds who have much more training and time together, all of who speak English when she doesn’t yet, who she doesn’t seem to have much chemistry with yet (likely due to the age gap), living in a foreign country in a tough industry that’s hard on everyone *especially* minors. that seems,, unreasonably difficult to put on a child and i hope that it works out for her and she’s okay and that no matter how frustrated people are they leave her alone because no kid deserves that level of pressure and difficulty at all and certainly not while being *hated on* for shit she can’t control. it’s not her fault for chasing her dreams.
i don’t know, i just feel like this was all very mismanaged and it doesn’t leave me hopeful for the future of the group.

I hate the name change, Prelude was way cuter. Pasting what I said on another sub: I’m just curious about how this is going to go overall. I feel bad for Sakura since she was not the favored pick by the audience at all. And on top of that, she’s not only a lot younger than the other members, but the other members have known each other for years at this point. Between all of that and dealing with the language barrier to connect with the girls, I really feel for her. Obviously the company has a vision but I feel like Sakura has a lot to overcome and that’s a lot at such a young age.
I had said previously that I would be shocked if they chose Sakura based on how Emily, Lexi, and Samara were styled at Coachella and the Billboard event. But I should’ve known HxG would make the worst choice 😭
