They could have avoided a lot of the later unpleasantness by talking things over while enjoying a few coffees…

Imagine them sitting at the table casually playing poker, unknown to what they will become in the future.

Swap out Franz Joseph for Tito surely. Not exactly a shock that the Emperor of Austria lived in Vienna.

Wikipedia actually says Hitler had moved to Munich when WW1 started?
But even for a few years earlier, the map is wrong because Hitler lived here: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meldemannstra%C3%9Fe_dormitory](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meldemannstra%C3%9Fe_dormitory) which is not where that arrow points to. The arrow points to the Nordbahnhof railway station; that dormitory was several kilometers north of there in a different district, outside of the area shown on the map.

As someone who grew up in Vienna, the locations that this map shows them living in are interesting.
Franz Josef – 1st district, literally in the imperial palace, duh.
Freud – 9th district, bougie apartments in the 2nd best part of town.
Stalin and Trotsky – along the U6 in the „Neubau“ area with lots of new social housing would be built after the revolution at the end of WW1, very working class area.
Hitler – across the Donaukanal, in the 2nd district which used to be the primarily Jewish satellite city of Leopoldstadt.
