Been hiking and camping all over Alberta for 10+ years and my first trip out this year I found two on me. Never seen them before. Not a great sign…

    5. Remember when some Americans bitched about the smoke from Canadian forest fires?

People laugh when i tell them I’m more likely to wear pants rather then shorts in the summer. I wonder if they will still be laughing after ticks get them?

On the upside: With the cost of a decent steak continually rising, and stagnant wages, late stage capitalism will save me from worrying about red meat allergies. 🤡

I don’t quite get it. They say that ticks are moving north because of climate change. But here in southern Ontario, we’ve just been through the coldest winter and spring in recent memory. If tick numbers are truly higher here so far this year, then it’s got nothing to do with climate change.

      > The lone star tick can carry a pathogen that can leave a bitten person with a severe allergy to meat.

Who would’ve thought, America is trying to make us vegans.

Remember when Amercians lost it on us last year because of the smoke from our forest fires reached some of their states?

I miss the 90’s when I never even saw ticks when I was out in the wild

They’re already bad here in the US Southeast. Much more than I can remember this early in Spring.

Ontarian with AlphaGal here. Had it since I was a kid, most likely caught it in Arizona on a family vacation. I can’t eat beef, which doesn’t bother me at all. But as I get older the sensitivity has broadened to include beef derived pharmaceutical ingredients. You don’t realize how many things include things like gelatin, collagen or other derivatives until you get looking at why a pill made you sick.

I also had Lyme in 2020.

Maybe I’m the problem and need to become an indoor cat.

Yet the Canadian government won’t approve the low level permethrin for treating clothes for sale in Canada.

They need to keep the deer population in check
They are the big reason of ticks spreading.

I just had my first tick bite yesterday. Had to pull it off with tweasers and everything

warming climate will allow more of these to live here.

      This is kind of expected.

This „[climate zone map](https://www.cec.org/wp-content/uploads/5_01_climate_zones_landing_page.jpg)“ can help with understanding.

This [USA map of „heating degree days“](https://eldoradoweather.com/climate/US%20Climate%20Maps/images/Lower%2048%20States/Temperature/Mean%20Total%20Heating%20Degree%20Days/Annual%20Mean%20Total%20Heating%20Degree%20Days.png) can also help.

Ticks moving north with warmer climate is a thing, but there are some geographical and climate borders that matter more than political ones.

    19. Everyone here talking like the ticks are a plan by the overlords and in most likely of cases it’s because the Trump administration and DOGE decided to gut spending on anything they thought was woke .

Ensuring pest control is a major liberal threat to the conservative way of life… knowing ticks makes you woke.

It doesn’t have to make sense but my assumption from the US administration is that they also caused the COVID pandemic by gutting international research facilities and halting or slowing research on development of anti vaccines for possible virus’s.
