Russland feiert heute den Tag des Sieges, den Tag, an dem die Welt Nazi-Deutschland besiegte.
Aber dieser Tag ist auch ein Tag, um die Wahrheit über Russland im Jahr 1945 zu verkünden.

Russland war derjenige, der 1939 den Zweiten Weltkrieg begann. Als Deutschland den Angriff auf Polen begann, taten sie es zusammen mit Stalin. Das Molotow-Ribentropp-Abkommen machte den Krieg möglich. Die Sowjetunion war am Krieg ebenso schuldig wie Deutschland. Als der Krieg endete, behielt die Sowjetunion den von ihnen eroberten Teil Polens.

Das erste Massaker im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde von Russland und nicht von Deutschland verübt, als sie 21.000 polnische Offiziere im Wald von Katyn massakrierten. Sie taten es aus Wut gegen die Polen, die sich nach Unabhängigkeit von der russischen Unterdrückung sehnten.

Russlands Art der Kriegsführung war äußerst brutal. Die Opferung von Millionen oft unbewaffneter Soldaten, die gezwungen werden, feindliche Stellungen zu stürmen, ist in der Militärgeschichte beispiellos. Selbst am Ende des Krieges opferten sie 80.000 bis 100.000, weil Stalin ein paar Tage früher in Berlin eintreffen wollte. Er befürchtete, dass US-Truppen vor ihnen Berlin erreichen würden. Der Krieg war bereits gewonnen, dennoch trieb Stalin seine Soldaten in den Tod.

Ohne wahnsinnig viel westliche Militärhilfe, sogar den Export kompletter Fabriken aus den USA, hätte Russland es nie geschafft, Deutschland zu schlagen. 400.000 Jeeps und Lastwagen 1386 M3-Lee-Panzer 4102 M4-Sherman-Panzer 11.400 Flugzeuge 8.500 davon Jagdflugzeuge 1,75 Millionen Tonnen Lebensmittel Und noch viel mehr … insgesamt 18 Millionen Tonnen Güter.

Die Gewalt Russlands, als sie sowohl die Ukraine als auch Osteuropa erreichte, war genauso brutal wie die Eroberung Osteuropas durch die Nazis. In Kursk, Dnipr und anderen Schlachten zwang die Sowjetunion Zivilisten, unbewaffnet an den Schlachten teilzunehmen. Das Massaker an der lokalen Bevölkerung war massiv. Als sie 1945 Polen und andere osteuropäische Länder erreichten, vergewaltigten, plünderten und terrorisierten sie die Bevölkerung, als wären sie der Feind.

Auch als der Krieg am 8. Mai 1945 endete, mordeten, vergewaltigten und plünderten russische Truppen weiter. Etwa 1,5 bis 2 Millionen deutsche Zivilisten wurden NACH Kriegsende ermordet. Vor allem Frauen waren Opfer der Angriffe und wurden oft von großen Gruppen von Soldaten bis zu ihrem Tod vergewaltigt.

Als der Krieg endete, beendeten die Westmächte bald die Besatzung und errichteten sowohl in Deutschland als auch in Österreich wieder eine freie Nation. In ganz Osteuropa setzte die Sowjetunion die Besatzung bis 1989-91 fort. Während der Westen die Freiheit feierte, schaltete der Rest Europas einfach den Unterdrücker um. In Wirklichkeit endete der Zweite Weltkrieg für ganz Europa erst 1991, weil einer der Aggressoren von 1939 seine Unterdrückung noch weitere 45 Jahre fortsetzte.
Wenn Russland heute feiert, feiert es nicht nur die Niederlage Nazi-Deutschlands, es feiert auch seine eigene Größe, sein eigenes Militär und nicht nur das, es nutzt es auch als Motivation für die Wiederherstellung der russischen Herrschaft über alle seine Nachbarn.
Deshalb sollten unsere Gedanken und unser Dank in die ukrainische Richtung gehen, denn ein großer Teil der Menschenopfer im Zweiten Weltkrieg kam nicht von Russen, sondern von Ukrainern. Die größten Lasten des Zweiten Weltkriegs trugen die ukrainischen und weißrussischen Soldaten, und die Zivilisten in der gleichen Gegend litten am meisten Leid. Die Ukraine wurde sowohl von der sowjetischen als auch der deutschen Armee zerschlagen. 17,2 % der Bevölkerung starben, und ein großer Teil von ihnen wurde auch von der russischen Armee getötet. Polen verlor 17 % und Weißrussland 25–40 % der Bevölkerung. Das bedeutet, dass das größte Leid im Zweiten Weltkrieg nicht Russland, sondern die Nationen waren, die Russland später unterdrückte. Noch heute nutzt Russland ihr Opfer als Vorwand, um sie erneut zu unterdrücken, zu erobern und zu ermorden.

Nach dem Krieg startete Stalin sogar ein weiteres Pogrom in der Ukraine und tötete viele weitere. Er begann sogar ein weiteres Hungermassaker am Holodomor. Allein in der Ukraine starben 300.000 Menschen. Es gab Essen, aber Stalin versäumte es, es mit ihnen zu teilen. 250.000 bis 500.000 wurden nach Sibirien und Kasachstan deportiert. Die Holodomor-Katastrophe in den 30er Jahren forderte mindestens acht Millionen Todesopfer und war der Grund dafür, dass in der Ukraine Partisanen gegen Russland kämpften.

Russische Soldaten, die aus Gefangenenlagern in Deutschland und im besetzten Europa zurückkehrten, erlitten Gefängnisstrafen. Die meisten von ihnen starben oder kamen in Gefangenenlagern in Sibirien ums Leben. Ihr Verbrechen: Sie starben nicht auf dem Schlachtfeld, sondern wurden Kriegsgefangene.

Die Kriegsinvaliden der Sowjetunion wurden aus ihren Häusern oder den Städten vertrieben und in riesige Lager gebracht. Sie lebten bis zu ihrem Tod unter schrecklichen Bedingungen. Der Grund dafür war, dass Stalin bei den Siegesfeiern 1948 und 1949 keine sichtbaren Invaliden in den Städten haben wollte.
Der Tag des Sieges unterscheidet sich in Russland sicherlich von den Feierlichkeiten anderer Nationen. Es hat einen riesigen grauen Schatten, an den der Rest der Welt sie erinnern muss.

between the Soviet Union and the Nazis Ukraine had a rough time during wwii and leading up to it. Between Stalin and Hitler Ukraine lost between 10-14 million lives not counting combat casualties which also was around 4-5 million.
It’s truly staggering how many Ukrainians died from 1930-1950
without american foods red army would starve to death by themself.
It’s time the real history of Russia and the Soviet Union from WW2 was understood. They were their own kind of brutal invader who never had to own up to their crimes after ww2 like their former ally Germany did.
Many would say the atrocities were committed at the time of war and that war is hell, both of which may be true but the level of outright evil committed is unique to Russia.
There is also the mass rape of women by Soviet Red Army soldiers after the fall of Hitler’s Third Reich.
Overall I entirely agree with everything here, but in terms of „first massacre“ of WWII, there’s a strong case for Nanjing being earlier (’37) and being part of the events of WWII. Similarly Wielun was before Katyn (’39).

I actually watched the parade, complete with CGI Kremlin, artillery gun cam, and a notable absence of pretty much everything.

My grandpa told me stories about how the americans liberated his city. They gave him (a young child) chocolate and sugar packages.
Then it was decided that his town was to fall under russian occupation. They came and dismantled everything to ship it back home and raped the women.
My MIL says all of this is “not truth”.
Meanwhile, she is telling me how her own mother barely survived the Holodomor and how her father returned from the front damaged and never spoke of his experiences.
Elderly have a hard time connecting their lived experiences to facts. They think that bad things just happen. Or that bad things happen to you when you deserve it. Or it’s gods punishment. When I press on with logic and facts, she just refuses to hear. It’s like talking into an abandoned empty well.
My Baba was a German war slave, following the war the USSR declared any returning Ukrainians were to be executed on return to Soviet territory. She recalled Soviet trucks lurking along the red cross camps trying to lure people back out (or coming in at night and just taking them), and then hearing the shots from just over the hill.
Another story was from a Ukrainian dance instructor who went to Ukraine after the wall fell. He was part of a troupe that did traditional dance for the elders. They cried to see their childhood culture again and uncontaminated Ukrainian spoken aloud. He returned alone after he learned that the Russians rounded up the dancers, teachers, and students, all the books and costumes,and burned them alive inside the school with the head teacher chained up naked outside in the snow. He returned original books, and replica costumes to the new school he helped fundraise to open.
Russia didn’t liberate anyone, they simply (re)occupied…it’s time this myth of a glorious Russia liberating parts of Europe by defeating Nazis is put to bed.
A despicable nation and culture through-and-through. It is an absolute tragedy and blight on humanity’s record that it has been allowed to persist for so long, and harm so many. That anyone would consider defending, let alone celebrating it, should bring any sane person to violence.

In the autumn of 1939, the Soviet Union acted aggressively toward several neighboring countries, directly or indirectly.
Poland — the USSR invaded eastern Poland on 17 September 1939 while Germany attacked from the west.
Finland — the Soviet Union attacked Finland on 30 November 1939 (the Winter War).
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — while not fully invaded in 1939, they were forced to accept Soviet military bases and heavy Soviet pressure. In 1940 they were fully occupied and annexed.
So if we isolate the events of late 1939:
Poland was invaded.
Finland was invaded.
The Baltic states were coerced and partially subordinated.
This is why many people in Eastern Europe view the Molotov–Ribbentrop period as a phase where both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were expanding aggressively at the same time.

My mother’s friend was gang raped in front of her family, an act that you could say shattered an entire family. Her family were declared enemies of the people like other Estonian elites and while my mother’s family managed to escape, her cousin’s family were deported and only two came back alive My great uncle was executed at Katyn. My grandfather was executed by Russian death squads after they kidnapped him from a refugee camp. My uncle managed to escape Soviet cativity because a Ukrainian soldier took pity on him, he was just a boy.
I worked for an older Jewish man years ago. He told us about his family whom were refugees from the Nazis in Russia. They lived in a “camp”. After hearing how bad it was for them in Russia I began to read more. In a lot of ways there wasn’t much difference.
Remember: you are NEVER safe neither in russia or near it. Always be prepared for these russopigs to come after you.

The Russian Army’s systematic raping of women is both very true and not discussed enough. Very common experience in German families who survived WWII.

I probably will not make myself popular, but your story lacks a lot of nuance. It was the Soviet Union, not Russia. The Red Army was the military of the Soviet Union, which included many republics—not just Russia. There was no Russian army. Even Stalin was not Russian, but Georgian.
Soldiers came from across the Soviet Union, including:
• Russia (the largest republic and the biggest source of troops)
• Ukraine
• Belarus
• Kazakhstan
• Uzbekistan
• Georgia
• Armenia
• Azerbaijan
• Lithuania
• Latvia
• Estonia
• And several other Soviet republics.
Ethnic Russians formed the largest single group because Russia had by far the biggest population. But millions of non-Russians also served. The Red Army was a multinational force.
The documented sexual violence and other war crimes committed by some Red Army soldiers involved a force made up of many nationalities. Historians generally attribute these actions to elements of the Red Army and the Soviet military system rather than to one ethnic group alone.
The soldiers were not only from Russia. They came from across the Soviet Union, although Russians were the largest group numerically.
