Das war die ganze Zeit der Plan von John Roberts: Der Oberste Richter hat erklärt, dass das Gericht nicht politisch sei. Die Fakten – und seine eigene Geschichte – sagen etwas anderes

Thanks W
He is gaslighting any future rulings that he can’t dictate.
Typical Republicans, its okay if I shatter norms but only me.
Anyone else remember when he upheld Obamacare basically single-handedly?
I think he cares a lot about the legacy of his court and reinforcing the perception of the Court’s impartiality.
I don’t know what’s going on now, he’s afraid of getting sent to the king’s reeducation camps?
The guy has been a lifelong ideologue and was at the time of his confirmation also questioned as an extreme. He speaks publically like he’s apolitical but his actions are very clearly political, or at best highly ideological.
He worked under thee Ken Star (yes of Bill Clinton era fame) and Rehnquist (a much earlier right-wing nutjob).
The recent NYT reporting showed internal memos between judges in 2015/6 in Roberts‘ own words claiming they must act quickly to intervene in energy legislation for the sake of economic impact – NOT based on judicial or legal precedence. This was expressly passed off through the first instance of abusing ’shadow dockets‘.
Judges are not supposed to act politically, ideologically, nor as legislators. They should offer determinations based on law and precedent.
The very concept of a secretive court being the pillar of the democracy is a complete contradiction. And shadow dockets allow unaccountable rulings without any proper legal or judicial explanation or debate.
The court has proven to not be legitimate since 2016, thanks to the NYT reporting.
And that’s without mentioning the Gore-Bush federal election intervention.
> The chief justice ~~has declared that the Court is not political~~ lied.
FTFY
In the past there were a bunch of judges that would swing to balance the court. But now 3 or 4 of the judges are corrupt, including Roberts, which makes it impossible to find balance.
If you want the court to rule in your favor you have to send a check to Robert’s wife or buy a vacation for Thomas.
No one is saying it yet.
The Abbott case that enabled partisan gerrymandering was planned and written in advance of Callais to support Callais.
They planned this. This isn’t just a weird outcome because of two unrelated cases.
The Louisiana Callais decision would have been a lot more difficult to justify if they hadn’t laid the groundwork in Abbott.
The Citizens United court, and the court who overturned Roe v. Wade, are dominated by the same sect of Christianity. John Roberts belongs to that sect. It is destroying American liberty. When will America wake tf up.
Roberts will go down in history as the worst Supreme Court Chief since Taney. The Court will have to quickly reverse itself to rebuild and maintain any level of public trust.
Disenfranchising African Americans and Democrats across the country is DESIGNED to set the stage for a civil war.
This isn’t a poor ruling. This is the design being implemented.
Roberts is using the conservative definition of political, where politics is things you don’t like, and explicitly political things can be apolitical if you think they are good.
If it was not political it would be self evident and he wouldn’t have to declare it.
He’s going to be right next to Roger Taney in the future museum exhibit of why the SCOTUS no longer exists.
lets see how they rule on the birthright citizenship case. As a non-lawyer the 14 th amendment is explicit about this.
HIs claims of non-partisanship are laughable. Why else overturn Roe v. Wade, long established precident, if not for Republican Evangelical politics? It was politicians who first began to use the subject of abortion to recruit supposed „Christian voters“ so how is that not political?
And we’re expected to believe that opening the door for non-census related redistricting based purely on politics by neutering aspects of the Voting Rights Act to alter the makeup of the House in order to protect the most corrupt president in at least a century from impeachment is not partisan.
Sure, John. I guess your latest claims make you a bald faced liar just like the majority of those politicians that also answer to the Federalist Society and Heritage Foundation ahead of the American public.
The very act of proclaiming what is or isn’t political *is political.*
“We’re not political. Just all of our verdicts are”
I wouldn’t be surprised if he genuinely believes this, for the most part. In my experience, many conservatives don’t view their policy positions as „political“. They view them as inherently correct or righteous.
Historians will refer to the Roberts Court as the one that destroyed the impartiality of the SCOTUS.
Its a lie. The gop is a full on fascist party. And so are their judges. We’re now stuck with infinitely rigged elections that guarantee these assholes have domination.
>“We’re not simply part of the political process“
That’s either an utterly disengenous statement or a complete disconnect with reality.
Only the conservatives were invited to that event recently. John Roberts is such a sack of shit. People like to point at Thomas, but John Roberts is the worst.
What the fuck does this even mean coming from a justice? Everything they do is political. It might not be “partisan” but it sure as hell is political. I am assuming thats his words and not some take but damn.
As I’ve written in similar threads: he is not political, he is partinsan. And a hack.
Judge them by their actions not their words.
Big „I declare bankruptcy“ vibes
Trump’s goal is to totally wreck the American justice system and then to get rid of it altogether. Dictatorships don’t do justice and democracy. Neither do Republicans.
We hear his words.
We see his actions.
His actions are much louder.
History will not remember this court kindly.
