  1. > “Hi everyone, it’s me Dave, and I haven’t posted in quite a while and the last time I did some of you said that I look differently, and I sound differently, and I do,” he began the video. “And what you’re seeing is the side effects of extensive radiation that I went through for carcinoma in my throat.”

    > He continued: “I haven’t been able to eat solid food in months. So I’ve lost 45 pounds, that’s what you’re seeing. And it’s affected my ability to speak, some of you have said that I speak differently. So you’re right on with what you’re seeing and what you’re hearing.”

And here I thought he lost all that weight because people love to bug him in the middle of dinner.

I really don’t understand people making light of this, with corny Alanis references. Poor guy is really suffering.

So what you’re saying is in regard to eating solid food he had to Cut. It. Out?

My father-in-law just found out he has squamous cell carcinoma on his tongue and lymph node. He hasn’t had a PET scan or started treatment yet, but they told him they may do surgery to install a g-tube to his stomach for nutrition before beginning radiation on his mouth.

Then he doesn’t have to worry about anyone bugging him in the middle of dinner.

  7. My father suffered damage to his throat affecting his ability to eat and talk when undergoing treatment for cancer. After witnessing that, I’m actually surprised Dave didn’t lose more than 45 pounds and he/his medical team deserve a lot of kudos for keeping him going

  8. It is an incredibly challenging journey. My dad has just finished treatment for esophageal cancer and had to use a feeding tube for his only nutrition for months. He was unable to swallow because of the tumor, and even what he was able to swallow tasted bad because chemotherapy kills taste buds. The weight and muscle loss is extremely taxing. I hope Dave will be able to make a full recovery.

My Dad had the same problem with the same kind of throat cancer. Somebody go give Dave a hug for me 🥺

  10. I want you to know
    That I’m happy for you
    I wish nothing, but
    The best for you both
