Norway is buying new German Leopard 2A8NOR tanks that include Israeli technology: Rafael’s Trophy active protection system.
Even though Norway is often very critical of Israel politically, it is still using Israeli defense tech when it comes to protecting its tanks and soldiers.
Trophy is already used on many armored vehicles around the world, including American, German and British platforms. Since the war that began in October 2023, it has also proven itself in real combat, helping protect Israeli tanks from anti-tank missile threats, including from Hezbollah.
Can Norway trust that Israel won’t backdoor deactivate or otherwise compromise the technology considering how favorably it deals with russia and putin, particularly in the invasion of Ukraine and if the Trump administration simply tells Israel to turn the equipment off?
We should not buy anything from Israel.

They are fitted with EuroTrophy, produced by a German daughter-company of Rafael.
Same product but technically made in Germany by a German company to bypass the political disaster it would be to buy a weapon system from a Israeli company.
While in my opinion a morally bad thing to buy from a Israeli company, the Trophy system works and has protected a lot of Israeli tanks during their occupations in recent times. It is a combat proven product and perhaps the best active protection system on the marked.
Israel produces a lot of good military stuff. Just ask their neighborhood…
Hezbollah was blowing up a lot of Israeli tanks recently, and those tanks presumably had this protection system, so maybe we should be looking into that, too.
That is a very very stupid decision also fuck Norway for supporting Israeli
If it’s the best product to protect our troops then they deserve it no matter who produces it.

Trophy has shown to not work against slow flying drones. Wonder what will defend those massively expensive machines against that? I’m afraid they are already outdated before they are delivered
Obviously people didn’t read the article or don’t understand but the Leopards are equipped with eurotrophy which is made by Germany in Germany, its basically licensed from the Israelis but Israel have no hand in the eurotrophy. So before people start hating or making conspiracy theories, do some research.

Even though the system is assembled in Germany, Israel holds the intellectual property and „end-user“ rights, meaning they can veto any transfer to a third party.
For example, theses tanks wouldn’t be possible to transfer to Ukraine without removing the Trophy system because Israel is pro-russia.
