I’m not trying to be disrespectful when I ask this. But were the YT channels like evil stuff? Or was it just general mean opinions online? Because I feel like you gotta have a smoking gun for stuff like this.

    2. I thought there was already a verdict for this one? Or am I thinking of another? Aish, there are so many law suits to keep up with.

Defamation lawsuits like this one hardly hold up, tbh. We have to wait to find out if the case is important enough for them to appeal or they will let this one slide?

So this is the civil lawsuit against Fast view as a company. I guess it’s easier to prove responsibility when it’s just one person directly doing defaming content instead of executives of a company? Is the penal case still going?

What a joyous occasion for Korea’s cyber wreckers alike. Fastview set a precedent, and now others will follow in their trailblazing footsteps.

But it’s not really surprising since they’re not just some mom-and-pop cyber wreckers run by one person in their bedroom. Their exec’s backgrounds are pretty beefy.

They lost the civil lawsuit, but the criminal matter has been forwarded to the prosecutor, meaning the police believes there is something here worth checking at least.

      Broad simplification:

      * Civil lawsuit = HYBE needs to prove the channel’s actions caused them financial damage
      * Criminal lawsuit = HYBE needs to prove actions of the individual caused them either physical, emotional, or reputational harm

There’s also another difference between the two lawsuits in that former is against the YouTube channel, the latter is against the individual directly.

In other words, HYBE, the company, might not be able to prove they earned less somehow due to the rumors spread by that channel, but there is still a chance for the owner of the channel to be held responsible for the online hate campaigns HYBE idols and artists received.

    6. The members are personally among the plaintiffs? Why the hell would they drag them in this and further humiliate them, the fans don’t hate Belift enough

    7. Another mystery of the Korea court system because this cyber wrecker was pretty much saying the same thing as another YouTube channel, and HYBE won their defamation case against that channel. This is like the judge of the MHJ shareholder case completely ignoring the rulings of NewJeans cases.

So inversely proved that some of the „defamations“ may be true after all? Remind me the things released in MHJ lawsuits, like the judge rejected NJ breaking the contracts but acknowledged the concepts similarities.

At this point I think the company doesnt even care if it may lose more lawsuits or exposing more bad practices in the court. It knows the fans are blindly loyal and the revenue won’t be affected anyway. It can afford trying to shut people up by getting them through the lengthy legal processes.

Didn’t realize even an entertainment company can suppress free speech and truth to this extent.
