Because the whole idea behind protein pudding is that they can mark up the price. It is a marketing trick in every country

By the way you can find some Polish diary products in Nikora and sometimes they’re quite cheap.

It shouldn’t be this expensive, just like 80% of the food here but it is what it is, plus, it’s imported, good thing, europroduct usually has good discounts around 4 laris each

    4. There’s currently a shortage of whey protein in the Nordic countries due to a high-protein diet trend. Prices have been going up. Valio is a Finnish producer and this affects their pricing as well.

It’s a first world problem. That’s a fashion product targetting a certain market.

    6. Does anyone know if gatsuruli matsoni is basically the same thing (health-wise)?

Everything is expensive here lol protein powders tortilla wraps anything that’s not common in the Georgian diet

    8. Because protein pudding is the marketing gimmick of the month. And the sole purpose of marketing gimmicks is to make money of gullible consumers. Protein pudding has exactly 0g more protein than regular pudding. But all the food bloggers decided that ruining your gut health by adding whey powder to fucking everything is the diet fad of the season and marketing people are only too happy to oblige. Why go to the gym and actually become healthy. Skip the sweat and get straight to the body builder diet 😉😉 only 50% higher price than the regular thing and 0 change to the ingredient. Capitalist dream.

Source – I work in marketing. Thank you for contributing to my annual bonus with your predictable behaviour. You are a good consumer. Now off you pop to the shop. There are other things for you to buy 😊😊😊

So yeah, both as a marketing person with a conscience, a passionate cook and as an aerialist I have a huge bone to pick with that protein bullcrap.

Absolutely. A total and complete ripoff. Getting high quality protein here in Georgia is really hard. It’s so annoying.

      Some notes:
      – as others have said, this Valio product is usually „on sale“ at about 3.99 or 4.99. This is a much fairer price while the more common retail price of 6.99 or more is just an abuse. The same brand, Valio, offers a „milkshake“ version (with 25 gr of protein) that’s sold on Spar about 7.99 to 11,99, also a rip off.
      – Occasionally there are other deals on Israeli or Russian protein bars and such.
      – As someone else mentioned, one of the best option is the Polish cottage cheese (Serek Wiejski from Piatnica) sold at Nikora for 3.99. That’s about the best option out there, aside from buying eggs.
      – btw same issue with olive oil, or worse, where prices seem completely and totally arbitrary and devoid of any reason.

I feel like it’s a matter of time before anyone decides the import proper EU UHT (non-refrigerated) protein milk drinks (like the ones sold at Aldi or Lidl with 35 gr of protein for about 1.10-1.39 EUR).

      DM open.

    11. goes on sale for 4 lari, although usually when it expires soon, have seen them for 3 as well but very rare

Actual food is getting way too expensive but complaining about imported desserts seems excessive.

Because our economy is f*cked up, have you even seen how much tomatoes cost out there?
